There was a thread on this before.

Most people are against it, but I quite like the idea of owning a "Ferrari" with Peugeot running costs. Especially getting an hdi and pulling up to the petrol station and lifting the diesel pump :D

All rover 75 / mg equivalents have a detuned version of the 320D BMW lump, but IMHO are about as bomb-proof as Saddam Hussein's defences.

All these bought-in engine installations tend to have issues that don't affect the car they were designed for, (Rover 218/XUD's Omega/2.5 BMW's etc). Can be a nightmare to diagnose & get bits for, both manufacturers blame the other for accessibility probelms and scarcity of any bespoke parts.

Apart from that, http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=2441

The 75's got a pretty awful rep, even has 2 in-tank lift/transfer pumps. I like the look of them and thought long & hard about one before getting mine. Don't regret the decision.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

What you need to watch out for the later rover 75/mg zt is MG Rover LTD had a thing going on called "project drive" they did a few things to the cars to cut costs such as removing equipment, heat shields, etc.
