I've got them on order mate.jasper5 wrote:If you are planning to replace the driveshafts and you are having the clutch replaced by a garage.....
Firstly get a proper diagnosis of the fault before replacing any driveshafts, then if you are still intent on replacing the driveshafts leave it until the clutch is being replaced as the driveshafts will be removed by the garage to change the clutch....all you need to do is give the new driveshafts to the garage and ask them to fit them when they are rebuilding everything.
Get some new driveshaft oil seals as well.
I was thinking of attempting the clutch change myself after having a look around under the car and also the Haynes manual i have, which says it can be done if the car is on axel stands.
I've checked the Haynes manual to see if there was anything to indicate why there feels like a loss of traction when turning into a relatively sharp left hand turn, and also why it makes a high pitched whining noise, and it states to check the condition of the CV joints/Driveshafts.
The CV joints themselves are in the region of £30+ (cheapest i've found up to yet) each and with 4 to replace, assuming both of the CV joints on each driveshaft need replacing, i can buy both driveshafts new from £100.
It's been quite some time since i was under a car to do any major maintenance work so it will be a bit of a struggle so i've made sure that i've got a friend on hand to help out.
I just need the weather to change for the better so i can get on with it. lol
