Unless you're moving to the mainland, you'll have a bloody long trek to get it home - Southampton is 30 miles further South of where I am. Think you can probably fly over to Southampton Airport to pick it up, but you're looking at over 4hrs driving to the ferry.

Coupe insurance is more expensive than the equivalent saloon/estate too. Looks nice though. Silver/Black spec is pretty decent. Basically an SE with less leather & no electric seats.

I bought a Xantia from ebay from Leatherhead once, just inside the M25. Then decided to make a weekend of it and nipped just up the road to Edinburgh. Spent a weekend with old university friends then got the ferry back on the Sunday.
And the thing was untaxed

No; only the 2.0 litre engines and both versions of the 3.0 V6 engine were mated to automatic gearboxes.

I'd have thought the HDi version might have had an autobox as an option, as there were more than 22,000 Coupes built with the HDi engine fitted (that's more than either of the two V6 models (separately)).

The 2.2 petrol didn't get an autobox either, but there were only about 3,600 of them ever built anyway.

Give me a shout if you decide you're serious about buying & I'll see if I can take a preliminary look for you to make sure it isn't a shed. Plus I've had a 2.2 HDi before (& tested a few), so should be able to tell if anything is chronically wrong. Think I'm probably the closest of the regulars.

That does look like a very nice coupe.

Needs to shed a few pounds in the exhaust & additive tank regions, then grow a pair.

Might be moving sooner than expected all of a sudden the process is in motion now, so I'll need to get all the house stuff out of the way before I look at a good diesel, but it will be neccessary as the Honda will bankrupt me unless I take shares in BP!

I'll look properly when the dust has settled, and I'll ping you 406 guys when I've seen something.

As an aside, how does classic insurance work?
The Honda is 13 years old, and while it isn't exactly a classic like a Citroen DS, I could keep it garaged and use it at weekends. There are a couple of things I could fix up on it while it would be parked up.

All I can see is a number plate and a 'car boot sale' wheel trim (a 5-stud one at that ).

I've just noticed the price on the Galant = £1,000.00 for an 11 year old 170,000 mile petrol, and probably the GDi engine with issues. Oh but it's 'priced to sell' so that's ok.........we're just not sure when it would sell, or for how much

There is teaser photos for new cars that are about to come out, but for used cars you sort of need a good daytime photo not something taken at night with an LED to light it up, although from what can be seen of the galant the back end has some dents there is probably a lot more.
Who would buy a mitsubishi saloon? Fair enough they have the evo models, but their ordinary cars are plain boring.

The gallant isn't too bad looking i suppose from the front, the inside of them doesn't look too appealing.

I've never understood boy racers. What they do to a car *devalues* it, not increases the value!

If it was a model with a careful owner, perhaps 30k miles, perhaps in a dark blue, perfect condition, then perhaps it would be worth £1400, at least as a near future classic.

As is, it's been raked, likely fuel line screwed to make it smoke, head gasket likely gone (with just enough HG sealant in the coolant to get it shifted), badly lowered such that the underside looks like it has been on the paris-dakar rally, a ridiculous "WEST" sticker which is either an homage to the Pet Shop Boys, the brand of tobacco they smoke, or the fact that a Formula 1 team had that particular sponsor which at the time was totally unrelated to the car apart from the fact that Peugeot supplied them engines for a single uncompetitive season in 1994 when they were sponsored by Marlboro.
