What Tyres?

I was wondering what tyres people use and prices paid,i am soon going to need a set of tyres (205/55/16) for my 406 when the winter tyres come off and was after some feedback on what people would recommend.I don't drive like Jenson Button but on the other hand don't want to end up in a ditch at the first bend in the wet,i know the Chinese are up and coming in the tyre world but not sure of the makes they produce,any info much appreciated.

Good grip, Assymetric (so non directional), good in the wet and very quiet.
I was very very impressed for the money!

When my Michellin enegery savers start wearing I will replace them with Falkens. They were great on my Focus.

I've got Pirelli P6000s on my D8 at the moment, no complaints really. I tend to go for mid-range, I'm a bit paranoid about cheap tyres. I think these were about £80/corner.

I was looking at P6000's but a mate of mine who runs a garage said he had a lot of people who thought they had steering issues and it turned out to be the P6000's but i've had them in the past on cars with no probs so perhaps it just depends on what car there fitted to,on my 406 info plate on the A post it says it should have P6000's as standard.

I've had various tyres on my 406 and I've not noticed anything unusual with the P6000s. I'm not saying your mate is wrong, just that I haven't noticed any problems on my car

I think different tyres suit different cars more,i wouldn't have thought Peugeot would have put on the car info sticker P6000's as standard if they didn't suit the car.

it all depends on what driving you do. round town ? or a lot of motorway ?
if town budget tyres will do perfectly
motorway your best with high end tyres

i got a full set of tyres (budget sport type) for £230 . 205/55/16

cant think what brand they are . will look 2moro.

I do a bit of both,town/motorway but i suppose it's more motorway than anything but don't race around and stick to 70-75 on the motorway purely for economy,do these tyres that state that they can improve mpg actually work?

I love my Firestone TZ300A's. Hard wearing and nice and quiet with plenty of good-weather grip and not too bad in the cold

I reckon I'm gonna get me some black steelies and winter tyres for next year especially after my ring-twitching drive in the snow last Saturday

It all depends on what you use the car for.
Mainly city driving? Go budget, but decent ones, not chinese copies.
High yearly mileage / motorway? Go premium.
Want quiet ride or prefer a sporty tyre?

I am gonna get Pirelli Cinturatos P7 when winter tyres (Goodyear ultragrips 8, utterly good tyres) come off in April, they seem bloody brilliant from the tests I've read online.

Never use a cheap tyre, a good one can save your a**. Better save on something else.

Alpha Acceleras are also a great tyre! Had them on my 1st 406 with no complains.

My 406 had P6000's on the back when I got it (they still had 6mm of tread too) and it was like a greasy weasle
