Had a chance to get under my new car for the first time yesterday.
I new it had a small exhaust blow and located that just by the silencer (presume it's a silencer as I don't think mine has a CAT) that's being temporarily patch welded next weekend.
Anywho, while I was under there I noticed what looks like power steering fluid and a small amount of oil coming from the back of the engine and some sticky, possibly old oil around the gearbox housing.
Only had her 2 weeks but doesn't appear to be using any oil and the steering feels fine so I'm not overly concerned at the minute. Any thought on likely seals/pipes to investigate when the warmer weather arrives?
Rocker gasket is dry at the front but that doesn't neccesarily mean it's dry at the back tho. Engine starts/runs like a dream, loads of power and torque and no smoke at all. No evidence of any leaks from above the engine and no driveway drips yet.
The car has done ridiculously low mileage for the last 10/12 years so I'm thinking perished rubber/gaskets just need a helpful point in the right direction.
Any thoughts?

Re: Fluid leaks on my new D8 1.9TD
gumby dont worry about it, if there is no drips were it gets parked then its fine
these engines seap oil all the time its normal
at the back its probably coming from the turbo - again its normal for them to leak a small amount
both my 1.9s were th same. i worried at 1st but since then have been told many times to not worry
its not using or loosing engine oil . and power steering level stays up then its fine
its probably from over the years thats all

Gary,
Thanks for the response mate, not overly concerned, would be nice to have a clean engine for a change that's all.
I'll keep checking the fluid levels but while she's running well I won't be touching her until the summer anyway.
Having a proper look at the weekend oil and air filter look brand new, she's running on veg so I have a spare fuel filter waiting to go in when it starts to clog. Radiator is less than 12 months old so coolant 'should' be fresh. I'll just monitor things until the summer then she'll get a full service and I might have another look at the fluid leaks then.
At the moment I'm just enjoying the extra power compared to my old 1.9td, over taking is now a choice not just a vain hope!!!!
