Please don't laugh....
The aerial mast on my 406 is completely siezed into the mount, to the point where I'm gonna have to get a pair of pliers on it to unscrew it as it's broken. Question is, is the threaded bit part of the mast and screws into the mount, or is it the other way round ie threaded part sticks out of the mount and screws into the mast?

The aerial on mine is female on the roof part and male on the removable part, in terms of your reception, I got a booster from Halfords yesterday, it goes between the head unit an the aerial and is powered by a cable in the one of the head unit connections, now i get a great reception, well worth the £13.99 it cost!

my powered signal amplifier actually restricted the amount of channels i could get, i have spent best part of a month sorting out my reception on my radio, now it is perfect picks up every channel available

Well, you did ask...........

our good lady wrote:remember to get grips on it and screws into it the mount mob-handed. If you mole , put another pair on the mount, as just wrenching on the b*tch with one pair will make the mount turn and possibly break.![]()
It is a bit of a job, but can be done (as long as you're careful and don't go in !).
I'd suggest getting copious amounts of vaseline applied to the female end, they're only a fiver because there's less drag on them.
I'd also recommend short smutty men less prone to seizure![]()
