Fitting lowering springs

How do I go about this, can I do it at home with my axle stands, 2 trolley jacks and big ass tool set? Managed to swap it out on a Fiesta and 3 series BMW without much issue.

yep you could do it that way mate. its not a massive job removeing the strut. the hardest job will be tackling the large springs. compressing them .

Many consider compressing the 406 a dangerous job, and I'd only recommend it with a hydraulic spring compressor

If I had the choice, i'd buy a set of them coilovers off the bay for £159 and be done with it
Not 100% sure but looks like they have bearings with them as well, so IMO would be a good buy

I replaced a strut top mount bearing and used a standard pair of spring compressors. It was fairly easy.

Be carefull with springs,

ive had one let go and iwas lucky,
the Amount of force behind them is unreal,

Get Some Mashoove spring compressors if your changing them the standard small sets are no good,

igot some from a Ex army place, ive only used them once but they where only £10

my mate from my old work place lost 2 teeth when the compressors give way when compressing his springs on is VW bora.
if it hits you in the right place on the head/face/jaw it could potentially "kill" you.

iseen someone use the old style coat hangers
to compress aspring , his intention was to keep it compressed to transfer it to another leg,

ididnt hang around to see if his plan worked, that dude was totaly Gormless,

iwas lucky with the one that let go on me if it hit the wall iguess it wouid of bounced back and took my head off,

I've seen a spring come loose and fly across the room (about 20 metres) and dent a metal door....be careful!

That aside, it is quite easy except for the fear of the springs:)
