Emergency STOP! Good Dogmobile.

Very nearly came to grief on a wet, overcrowded A14 this morning.

You know the usual thing, a minor bump sets both lanes of traffic into an accordian style emergency braking convention. I guess I was too close to the transit in front, so didn't see the incident developing in front of it, then when he hit the anchors I didin't immediately realise how hard he was braking.....

Long story short, I avoided a bump by stopping slightly to the side of said transit and no-one rear-ended the dogmobile. This emergency brake assist, or whatever you call it, is scary, but damned effective. Sounded like the ABS firing on all circuits, but maintained steering control beautifully and pulled up with he hazard lights already on. To say I was relieved would be putting it mildly, (almost needed welly's odour control stuff).

Can't say I regret investing in some new front boots a week or so back, Kumho Ecsta's or summat - (another welly-endorsed product ), but very good.

Funnily enough, the Kumho's came 1st out of all manufactures in a wet braking test - something I thought was kinda important so that's what clinched the deal for me. I'm off to get another one for the n/s rear this week since my "Ford Alignment" has now been corrected we had to fit a number of parts badged as "Focus" t'was a sad day indeed but all feels spot-on now like it's on rails...........like my Stair-lift at home

It's a funny thing but after a while you get very protective over your car once you've spent a lot of time and effort on it. I feel like I've corrected everything that could go wrong with my car so would be gutted if it got written off cos I'd have to start over (and I wouldn't get any more money for it being mechanically perfect than a ropey one).

the tranny !! he will do anything to screw a few more horses out of his dogmobile but
tail gateing a tranny , tut tut says it all you should be a more alert and careful

Does the EBA put the hazards on automatically? I didn't realise that was a separate thing to EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), just assumed it was some weird translation on Service Box

Is ABS, EBA and EBD standard on all D9 406s? I have to say whatever combination of those worked really well in the ice last month. It's a godsend compared to the crap brakes on the Fiesta I had before this (with drums on the rear, an even less useful handbrake, no fancy electronic gubbins).

Does the EBA put the hazards on automatically?

Not sure if it's EBA, EBD or E by gum, but it seems to work!

Automatic hazard activation is selectable via PP2000, at least on fully-mux cars.
