But I do look like this!

Minus the pink jacket, sunglasses, scarf (what?) and the matching handbag that is doubtlessly dangling from his right hand...

Holy smeg Lozz, you've been busy! I'll have to go through that lot when I get back from my phisio.

Meanwhile, I have some sort of good news, some bad news, some worse news and some truly awful news:
The Toytractor is done. :|
I've had to pay for it all (about 800 quid at a guess) :(
All that farting about and no sign but now I'm driving it the MIL is up again. :( :(
The Peugeot is in the garage up at my house sans battery

Oh and Scooter's just thrown up everywhere  I'm off to be nuked, vacuumed and electrocuted, tara.

I'm ba-ack! :frown: I'm pleased to report it hasn't made me angry enough to drive it into a wall yet.

Just having a squint at those links Lozz, most of them say "only available from the main site" The worst thing is I could probably understand quite a lot of it, if some idiot hadn't invented an alphabet specifically so people didn't learn the western one

That's a W, which seems to be 2 VR engines back-to-back. Interesting, in a who gives a toss kind of way.

You know, this stuff is all typical German engineering - all amazingly engineered to an extremely high standard but completely ignoring the fact that somewhere down the line some poor sod's going to have to fix the damn thing. They never learned anything from the Tiger...

Yahoo Babelfish did ok, but I still can't figure much out - I'm still too far away from the screen to see what the links are doing.

One engine? From what I hear it's more like one manufacturer. Well, ok, two...

I forgot to mention, the pigpiss express was feeling a bit twitchy earlier so Goran checked the tyre pressures when we were dropping the 406 off at mine:
The tyre pressures are on the driver's B-post and they're 2.0 bar all round.
1st tyre - 2.5 bar (oops, are we sure this is right?)
2nd tyre - 3.5 bar (what the f...?)
3rd tyre - almost 4 bar (Jesus ffffeckin H Christ! )
4th tyre - just over 3 bar (I've bought a car from a retard  )

The time has come for me to depress myself with the total :(

Initial purchase price - 10,800€ (£9,053)
Tax - 2,600 Kn (£290)
Inexplicable charges for registration - 107Kn (£11.95)
Garage:
Mobil 10W40 4L - 307,00
ditto 1L - 84,00
Air filter - 125,00
Oil filter - 60,00
Pollen filter - 90,00
Mobil SHC 75W90 4L - 640,00
Mobil HD 80W90 2L - 140,00
Wheel alignment - 100,00
Plugs Denso K20R-U11 x4 - 120,00 (eh?)
DOT 4 1L - 60,00
DOT 4 .5L - 35,00
Antifreeze AL Extra 3L - 120,00
Horn 12v - 70,00
Aux belt tensioner roller - 290,00
Aux belt 7PK1933 - 190,00
Rocker cover gasket - 115,00
Bosch battery - 590,00
Water pump - 680,00
Clutch set - 2440,00

Sub total - 6256,00
discount -15% - 938,00
Labour 1.000,00

Total - 6.317,00 ( £705)

Total cost to get crappy RAV4 on the road - £10059.95

Jobs still to do:
Fit horns (I swapped the single for a pair when I found both were knackered, it rather involves removing the bumpers to fit them though...)
Remove anal beads
Work out how the sodding back seat goes back into place
Hot glue gun mesh behind radiator grille opening (seems to be missing & I can see the radiator through it, however I'm not paying 60€ for a moody replacement :frown: )
Touch in some of the chips & scratches to stop it rusting. If I can be bothered.

Impressions of driving it - slow (110Kw= WTF??) cumbersome, noisy, poorly-equippped, uncomfortable (and I left a 406 interior in GB :frown: ), poorly laid out, no room for anything. The gearbox is just like an old Transit - you can't hurry the gearchanges or it'll make loud crunching noises. Is there anything about it I do like? Umm, the headlights are slightly better than the Pug's.

Btw the wife had her first driving refresher lesson today - yipee!! :cheesy:

10 big ones eh? :(

It had to be done though and maybe you'll find it a useful piece of kit in the snow etc.

You've pretty much had the car 'fully prep'd' for new ownership, you can't be faulted for that 8)

Merry? :( I'll be round my in-law's for Christmas dinner and I suspect while they're stuffing down the sausages, cured meats and that sort of thing, I'll be tucking in to a lovely plate of boiled veg... No cake for me either

It seems a lot of money for such a basic car but that's how much they cost here. I'd have probably had to spend a lot more on an older car too.

This morning I took Scooter to the vet's for his "shots", also he is now officially Scooter - it says in his little pet passport thing (so there's no chance of the wife calling him Cameron or something else as annoying). I didn't really want to put him through the indignity of the cat box again so he was loose in the back of the RAV. Predictably when I got home he'd leaked and there was a swimming pool. Fortunately it came with one of those plastic mats which goes all the way under the rear seats, of course I had to figure out how to move them about to get it out and I thought I'd suss out how they work while I was there. I was sure the former owner had moved them forward to get the tyres in but it turns out he didn't as one of them was jammed. So the only adjust they have goes from small child to paraplegic  The backrests fold at the pull of a loop, another lever at the back and the whole lot tips forward and locks into place (leaving some rather dog-unfriendly looking ironmongery sticking out) If you don't lock them in place you can lift them out - I took the jammed one indoors to free it up.

The plastic tray thing is scarcely bigger then the Peugeot's, and that one fits with the back seats in place.

I did find something else I like about it - the handbrake  As above, it's a similar disk-in-drum set up to the 406's but it works extremely well, when I went home to check my boiler earlier I did my usual scream to a halt yanking on the handbrake while it was still rolling slightly - whiplash! 8)

It's also giving me 8.1l/100km (34mpg) which I'm quite surprised about - I was expecting 10 or 11 (especially with the unsympathetic way I've been driving it  )
