I can categorically say that if the suspension fails everything else still works, been there got the t-shirt, I think when it's working the hydractive 3 suspension is world class, even on the autobahn pushing 150mph (240kmh) it was rock solid and stable with no noticeable wander or air buffeting in actual fact it was a lot more stable and comfortable than an 8 year old 7 series BMW with all new suspension components that had only been fitted 2 months earlier.As for speed humps, what speed humps, bumpy roads? jack it up another few inches.

I'll agree with that one Dan. In fact I never even had to jack the suspension up on my C5 when I had it & it was still 10 times better than any of the Beemers were. We've got those sh*te square humps in the middle of each lane & at 30mph in the C5 it was like running over a crack in the tarmac.

If you still want a cheapy & give the wife the C5, I reckon you should fly over with £500 one weekend & we'll go out & pick you up either an E32 7 Series or an E34 5. I'll save up my fuel receipts & you can give them to your accountant to write off as business expenses to cover the cost of the flight & car!

Only ever had the one E30 - it was a 325i Touring with sport interior & lsd. Was great fun, but it certainly highlighted how far chassis design moved on when I drove my 1st E36 a couple of months later. Whilst the E30 was fun to chuck around the bends, the E36 just wouldn't unstick.

This is the one that I looked at a couple of weeks ago. Hasn't been cleaned at all as there's a few marks on the back seat & a couple of sticky bits (probably tree sap) on the rear door, but it started on the button, sounded smooth & the suspension went up & down on every level. Looked like a genuine nice motor. When I asked him about the cambelt, he said they can get it done for £100. As far as I can see, all the Exclusive has over the 2.2 SX is leather, cd changer, a bit of fake wood, 16ins wheels & tyre sensors (rather not have them). May even look good with my Nautilus wheels on one.

& it's now been dropped by £500.

Doggy (if he's about) - what would you reccommend on a cambelt change? I'm thinking water pump & aux belt as I don't think 2.2s have the bottom pulley issue.

Also, is anybody up for the challenge of a C5 deFAP? Will happily pay for services rendered.

Id look at the red one first waue,

No Tow bar, (not been used for towing which is a good thing,)
lower mileage,
and ithink the coulour of red suits the car, the blue one looks abit plain considering its newer,

i am sorry, i know youve had a few niggles with the 406, but how can anyone look at the C5 and seriously think its a "Upgrade" Its kinda got downs syndrome, The kind of face only a mother could love... ok wave your "mother" i guess but seriously, i have a ginger missus....... Its just there so damm ugly i used to own a 1.8 zantia, and a 1.6 bx, awesome old bangers, my m8 owns a C5 2.0 HDi, which made me choose a 406.... i just couldnt walk to my car every morning owning one, and want to get in it ! were as the old "Pug" i love lol

Tbh. iused to be a ford fanatic ,

so iused to think of french cars as something like Garlic Bread, (Bleaugh!!)
But after, driving a few french cars ive sort of got used to them They drive better than they look,

ive just got rid of a celica, (GEN-6)
imiss it tbh, it was very reliable,

no good for my kids tho, my 12yr old son is 6ft 2" so couidnt get in the back of it so ihad to get rid,

i love any car Pre- 2000, i didnt realise "Pugs" had changed so far from 1999 onwards or i would of bought a 1999 pug 406 anything after 2000> was built by business managers, or accountants, rather than "Car Companies" >pre 2000 "lets make a bloody good car people will want to buy" !!! > post 2000 "Lets out-source everthing to turkey and build a car for "£5" that looks ok (apart from the C5 & Anything from renault) and make a packet
