It certainly was. Reckon a couple of people REALLY wanted that car. Personally, I'd rather put in an offer on this:plod wrote:£3200 - was it you Waue, who said today you didn't think it would go up anymore? If so, you were rightplod wrote:£2571 !!!!

You'd need:ToddM wrote:I reckon you should be able to pick one up from a breaker's car and it'd drop straight in besides you'd be able to swap belts, water pump etc. Full and easy service and it'd cost much much less.
Doggy's spot on there. Most of what's been done to mine (apart from the fortune that's been spent in general maintenance) could easily be swapped over in less than a couple of days if I wanted it anyway.dogslife wrote:You'd need:ToddM wrote:I reckon you should be able to pick one up from a breaker's car and it'd drop straight in besides you'd be able to swap belts, water pump etc. Full and easy service and it'd cost much much less.
engine c/w flywheel, clutch, (starter?), turbo, all the vacuum valves/reservoir/actuators, turbo air piping, turbo & egr throttle systems/heat exchangers, keys, transponder, engine ecu, bsi, engine wiring loom, (clocks too unless you want both mileages added up),
then you need to defap the ecu software & debug at the same time as getting the transplant to work

That is where the problem is. I can change wheels, strut brace & interior trim myself. When it comes to engines & other mechanical bits I get it done in a garage & it wouldn't be cheap to get them to do an engine transplant for me. Plus I don't even have a driveway, let alone a farm. Any work that I do is outside the back gate (if I can get parked near it) & I've also got a little boy to consider.ToddM wrote:Yeah but if you get the engine complete with the gearbox etc. from a breaker you wouldn't need most of those anyway and they can be had for cheap if you can be bothered doing it and have the space/time. I wish I lived on a farm sometimes

Besides, if I was going to do a transplant, I wouldn't transplant an engine that could be found in another 406 anyway, otherwise it would just be more sensible to get that model instead. I'd look more along the lines of later HDi 16v engines. If you're going to that much trouble, it may as well be something you couldn't get normally.

Looks nice (especially the non-ribbed beige leather), but if I was making bold claims in my ad, I'd make sure the claims were true:rwb wrote:ooh hello http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... 3410944446
