Post by MSOB »

Hi to everyone, ive owned my 406 hdi 110 for abit now but i having 2 problems with it and dont know whats wrong.

number 1, the car drives fine then when the car hits boost its as if the turbo cuts out then cuts back in sometimes. also some days it can run perfect then like today i drive along putting my foot down and its like there is no turbo????????

number 2, the clutch seems to be hit and miss, the pedal travel is long and the biting point is right at the top, then some days i wake up in the morning and the clutch pedal is right down to the floor and i have to lift it back up with my hand??????

Your clutch is controlled by a hydraulic system, you could check your fluid level.
Problems with boost on the HDi can sometimes be caused by a split in one of the intercooler pipes.

When did she last get a service? I would also make sure your air filter is good.
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.
Hmmmm, straight 6 goodness!

what about those tiny vacuum lines and two solenoids attached tot he fire wall ? can a loosen vaccum line cause this?

Any warning lights? No turbo could be "limp home mode".

If the brake fluid's all the way up it'll probably be the slave cylinder.

Clutch problem sounds like slave cylinder on way out.

Been having a play around on the car today...

clutch looks to be the slave cylinder..But regards the intermitant boost problem the only other way i can explain its like a limp mode kicks in then goes off again??

What simptoms are a dogey egr valve???
