Handy tips

Post by turbolag »

Everyone, do exactly as it says on the heading - add a handy tip about 406 ownership that might help your brother 406 gods.

Here's mine...

Do you use Armor Alls awesome tyre gel? You should, cos it's the best! Anyhoo, once you've done the tyres you've got the applicator all nice and moist with the gel, so use it to bring a shine to the black trim on the bumpers and doors.

Easy, eh?

After you've spent some time getting your car looking spotless, clean the inner wheel arch liners with some tyre shine or bumper black stuff to give a showroom look.

And for the very keen, with alloys, take the wheels off and clean the inside of them. Surprising how much of a difference it makes. Me personally have only ever done 2, got bored then with jacking the car up to take them off!

Final tip, clean the windows with a vinegar and water mix, preferably use a newspaper (B&W pages only) to get them sparkling. The vinegar takes off all the grease and the newspaper ink helps give a great shine. Use this for the house windows too.

Great idea for a post, maybe change the title to "handy cleaning tips", then we can have different posts for mechanical and electrical work etc.

I've got a handy cleaning tip. Take your car 'round to Neil Davies' house then stand by it talking bolox for an hour. Neil can't stand to see wax residue on your faded black trim, and after a little while he can no longer resist the temptation to reach for his auto glym products. The wife's car may still be knackered but it looks great! :cheesy:

Dai, you know what I'm like, remember my second AXGT and Volvo. Both cars came to me in a banger state (well, the ax anyway) and both left me like new.

Aw, the days of old (and old cars)

Dai, what say me and you go out and buy a Capri in need of some tlc and give it the Neildavies Treatment
