theres something nice about old tech like digi dashes they still look cool in a casio calculator watch sense of the word.
i think the early maestros got the digi dash but they stopped putting them in after too many problems

loved the car because of its digi dash, the ladys voice it had tho telling me it was low on fuel was anoying tho :P
it was the 1st ever talking car so ibelieve, other than kit (night rider )
A mate of mine bought an MG Maestro
Bloody annoying that woman
SHe'd tell you you were low on fuel, so you'd pop into the fuel station, and when you came out, she'd be telling you you were still low on fuel
I think they must of had a surplus on the maestro fuel tanks and sold them to peugeot to fit to the 406

Genuine VP. You'll find that it wasn't a general rule that the high spec models had a digi dash. Was the same with MG Montegos. A mate had 2, both 2.0, both D reg, one had the digi dash (which he used to need to shine a torch on to see how much fuel was left) & electric windows all round, the second one was analogue dash & windy windows.

Vauxhall were the same with the digi dash on the Senators & Carltons. Was a no cost option to have them with the standard analogue dials.

My Senny had a digital dash, bit weird to begin with and I did plan to change it but I ended up liking it. Especially when I floored it and everything moved...

jeremy clarkson described the maestro dash very well.

it would talk to the driver about any faults and problems it may have, and being a british leyland product it always had a lot to talk about.

i mind watching it on youtube and nearly falling off my chair in laughter at the way he said it.

the citroen c4 has a cool digital dash and its easy to read in sunlight because of the transparent backlight, the problem is its too easy for others to see what speed its doing.

Heres a nice cheap car:
http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-moto ... ry-wrapper

the insurance on these cars is quite a bit cheaper than the 406 group 7 for a hdi 90, and
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p
the hdi 110 exclusive is only group 9 :cheesy:

Nice C5, initial picture looks like it's a lowered wreck - but it's the Citroen suspension! :)

No mileage though, obviously judging by the repairs that have occured over the last year or so, it has been taxiied to death over every speedbump in Cookstown.

Spelling mostly there, colloquialism "FIRST TILL SEE SHOULD BUY". An interesting twist on the usual "First to see will buy"....

I see your C5 and raise you a not-so-cheap ZX

http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-moto ... ry-wrapper

Comes with 60 Saxos (at ~£175 a piece scrap would be worth it just for them) and "3 nicks" :?:

i thought the cookstown c5 was ok ish, it may be the seller has seen the example of others and copied it, a bit more restrained than most ni ads, and it does come from a nice looking estate. Wheras the zx looks like it comes from the mountains, a great place for a lowered car  That car really looks shockingly awful when lowered its not right. when the rear wheel arch starts to hide the metal part of the wheel its not a good look.

heres another c5, the trim levels are a bit confusing, im assuming exclusive is the same as executive but not all have leather seats. But they really are very comfy old things.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p
also the 0-60 time auto trader has for the 110 estate 11.6 seconds, is that right? it must be a very light car.

Exclusive has cloth, Exclusive SE has the leather as standard. If I were going for another C5 I'd get another 2.2, ideally an 04 plate onwards with the 6 speed box. I can also vouch for the boot on the hatchbacks - mine was huge. The estate must be big enough to get lost in.

it seems to be a nice big car, did it get the 2.2 twin turbo that discopols car gets?
the only problem with the original c5 is the looks it isnt a great looking car on the outside.

I went to look at this C5 before the Honda way back in March

http://www.usedcarsni.com/61712084?grtk ... 83a6e7373b

2.2 HDi exclusive. Came up with all sorts of error messages on the dash, was basically an MFD from a 406 in the top middle for all to see the errors

Anti-Pollution, Tyre Sensors broken, suspension doing weird things.

He also put the price up £600, saying he replaced a headlight bulb for MOT. I walked away.

good idea to walk away with that many problems.
but after having a 406 a c5 wouldnt really worry me as much. it seems more were sold with a 2.2
diesel than 2.0 hdi. but they really are very comfy

Don't half these Laxia clone ads say they don't work with the C5? Did you try yours on one yet?

Extremely comfy, big cruiser with the autobox.

Engine mounts seemed OK.

2.2 has a FAP though? Couldve spelt big issues.

When I had the Xantia it was a great car.
