Maybe I'm thinking of early 90 models which had rear drums, maybe they all gained rear discs towards the end (not that it was anything to shout about mind) :|

Mine was a 2002 Rapier HDi 90. Not sure exactly when in the year, but I think the original English plate was '51.

I bought it as I had read that the 110 rear pads could drag on the discs, but didn't really check it out too much before purchase. At most, I'd assumed they were fake discs around the drums.

the 2.2 ive heard of 180bhp coming from one which soudns about right if vw can squeeze 170bhp out of 2 litres.

on the se vs exec thing.

se cars have chrome door handles, white and chromed speedo dials, the silver dash panels, ashwood or silver door trims, the chrome under the grille, nicer alloys and usually a chrome exhaust.
wheras the exec has full leather, and headlight washers, being peugeot with their mad trim level consistency your not guarenteed a sat nav (mainly the better trip computer) and ive seen some 04 execs on autotrader with the se bits.

look there at the crusie control on that one you showed me its just a small stalk, on the com2000 ones its a big flat paddle thing, also the indicator and wiper stalks are bulkier with smoother endings, but 02+ cars have it for sure.
one thing the com2000 brings is find me home lights

That one's defo not a COM2000.
Reading the listing, I think he'll have trouble getting the reserve with an indicated 206k, (regardless of how genuine the stated 110k is).

Execs have memory seats, (which I don't think SE's have). You can't get a 90bhp exec. Exec's GTX's & SE's have cruise as std. it was optional and can (probably) be retrofitted to GLX's & S's.

As far as FAP's & MOT's are concerned, mine has passed 2 with no issues - as welly says it's purely a smoke test, exactly like you have with the XUD and I don't believe it will be an issue in future - even if they change the rules, they won't do it retrospectively.

With any 2.2, you can get the FAP removed & ecu reprogrammed to work without it very cheaply.

180 bhp remap files are avialable for next to nothing for 2002 onward cars with COM2000's, there is also at least one version which will work with earlier cars, which are pre-COM2000, e.g. early 51-plate, (works on early coupes). Honestly don't know if any will work with a 'Y' reg. - it may be OK, but I don't know of any successes to date.

Get yourself down to Gaydon next month for a demo. A rare opportunity to see several remapped HDi's 8)

2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

In fairness, COM2000 replacement is an easy enough job, theres a good guide on this site. Takes a couple of hours. Hardest part is getting the airbag off.
Just the component which is expensive.

Originally they kept going wrong but the company that made the originals went broke (serves 'em right) so the new ones are made by a different manufacturer(I did put all this stuff in the other thread but I can't be asked to look for it), so hopefully the new ones will last.

There is a fantastic thread on a howto on the replacing of one.

Just remember:

- Put the steering bolt back on before putting the airbag back on
- Breaking the airbag connectors on the old one doesn't matter, but breaking them on the new one as you try to get the airbag back off because you forgot about the steering bolt will need soldered...
- The bolt itself needs a T55 (I think...) allen key.
