Windscreen washer fluid

Post by mjb »

So what washer fluid do you lot prefer?

My usual is the 2.5 litre Tesco own-brand concentrated stuff in a 1:1 concentration. It's cheap, does a fair job of keeping grease at bay and shifting most muck, but it really struggles with bugs - usually changing them from an annoying dot to a really annoying white arc. It also stinks!

I've just finished trying Halfords super-concentrated lemon scented stuff in a 1:4 concentration. Clears bugs and road muck well but I'm having to take the fairly liquid to the windscreen every other day just to de-grease it.

Fairly liquid is the daddy. With a spot of water it cleans brilliantly and de-greases perfectly. Only *itsy weeny little problems* are 1) you need paper towel to rub it in and clean it off - not easy on the motorway unless you're in some sort of action movie and 2) you don't ever want to put it in your washer reservoir :)

Mines about 15% methanol, 85% H2O. It ok for clearing the screen, but superb for spraying into the inlet tract!

I bought some Ghey Pink sh*t from Halfrauds last year (2-for-1) and am still trying to get rid of the f*cking stuff.

It smells lovely but leaves your roof, doors, side windows and bonnet looking like a Horse has ejaculated all over it

I cannot therefore, recommend.

Why on earth do you own 4 horses? Surely 4 expensive, highly state of the art mountain bikes would be better? Oh yeah baby!

I'd sell them all and buy another Coupe :D (HDi 2.2 of course - with a remap/induction kit)

I don't know what Horse Jizz looks like, it's just that the Screenwash leaves a Milky staining down the side windows, I imagine if an equestrian mammal blew it's load on my window then it would look like Halfords Pink Floral Smelling screenwash afterwards.
