checked the timing again this morning and still the same
im tempted to whip the head off and change it for a standard one, when i got the 1.9 cam put in the guy said he shimmed it to a 1.9 which makes no sense to me if thats right or wrong, the only way i can describe the engine running is like the timing is out by a tooth. pm'd you my address herefordbilly hopefully you can make a copy of cd as it would help alot!
Might be worth checking the valve clearences first, you must be so frustrated. If i was near i would have brought my car along to swap bits over.

no idea how to check valve clearences, took my inlet manifold off earlier and when i undid the return fuel pipe it was dry and empty? shouldnt it at least have a little bit of fuel in or be a little bit wet? just sanding the face of my other inlet getting it as smooth as possible before i fit it! (anyone any tips to get old gasket off as its stuck on in bits everywhere )
thanks for the offer travis im going to try the inlet out and if that doesnt work then im going to ask on 205gtiforum if anyone close with a turbo engine will lend me there working ecu so i can try on mine to ease my mind on it not being 2 fubared ecu's
That doesnt sound right, the return should be at least wet with fuel. have you tried different fuel rails? pressure regulator?

thats what i thought, if its not returning then imo it will be going in engine overfueling i hope anyway as that will be my problem! i have another fuel rail which i will try as i took my inlet off today to change for my other.
I know that you have checked the timing a couple of times now but your comment re "running one tooth out" had me thinking. Has your camshaft sprocket got the 3 bolts in slots type or not? If it is the former have you timed it correctly?

Clutch changed @110k, bottom pulley changed, cam belt changed, EGR blanked, cat removed, front springs changed.
dont get you with the 3 bolts in slot thing, i used 2 different cam sprockets on the engine both come off 2.0 8v turbos.
well anyway i fitted my other inlet today including fuel rail started it up and to me sounds better idling now but still popping, blue sparks caught my eye on the engine so after checking around i looked down to cylinder 2 spark plug and looked like it was sparking blue off the spark plug and on to the head! it did this a couple of months ago but after getting new leads it stopped....changed the lead for 2 others i had and its still doing it? anyone had this before? if so how did you fix it?
yeah just now, didnt see the message sorry, only one i need is the coolant temp sensor. does it say anything in the cd about my latest problem? (my last post above)
ok wrapped my plug and end of lead in elecy tape and its stopped the blue sparks but still when i started it up now and rev it it wont rev much and when i do rev it it backfires very loudly lol. plugs are black too after a short run
Just a thought, but what gearbox are you using? and have you changed the flywheel? if so are the timing pick ups the same.

used same flywheel as before so no problems there, it wont hardley rev up at all now hardley... it just backfires but idles okish and starts fine! plugs are black when i check them after a short run. the only other thing i can check is the tps but im sure its running too bad for it to be that so dont want to waste my money. im probley going to take the head off and change it for a standard one.
OK so it definately chucking way too much fuel in, i hope you get this sorted they are a great engine when running right
it couldnt be a problem with the loom could it? i know its a pug1off job but mistakes can happen, just a thought.

used the loom on the old engine with nothing but 1 problem which was the revs were sticking when i changed gear and its still doing it now a bit. i hope i get it fixed too
