I like to do a bit of DIY work on the car, but removing driveshafts and pressing mounts is outside of my comfort zone.

That and the other issues of 4 "oddball" tyres at once before MOT and the British Leyland doors.

I dont know why the rust affects NI 406s so much, country pug, you, and that car i was breaking had rust. More reason to get mine packed with waxoyl.

Any chance your car was used in a coastal location. Portrush would be a bad place to buy a car from.

I bought it from Belfast, inland a few miles. He said the guy before had used it to commute from Omagh to a Belfast hospital (City and Royal are not coastal).

It had originated from Englandshire according to the V5 (originally a '51' plate). Could have been anywhere.

Was really surprising, as my Xantia and ZXs would collect the odd dent and scrape, but were always rust free.

Though to be fair there is a bubble under the bonnet but i think all 406s have that.

Mines come from ireland,
theres no rust on it anywhere,
even underneath it is still mint mot inspector even said dont bother wayoiling it theres no need as its clean,

its only been in england a year if that,
im thinking of contacting dvla and see if ican have the eire reg put back on it,
the eire reg is still on the v5 along with the england one and cannot be removed from the v5 so ipresume the eire reg will still be valid and can be put back on the car,

my legal source tells me the eire reg asnt been used on any other car so theres a good chance no ones sold it on somehow,

its been run about over here for abit on the Eire plates,

reg started with a i irrc so dont know what part of eirland it was from

im off over to ireland shortly so iwill ask around when iget over there ,

The irish plates are white on both sides ie front and back, and they have a blue corner with IRL in them.
Northern Irish plates are like engish ones without the hard to understand system of numbers and letters to determine the year. Hence why i find a 52 or x reg car to be complete jibberish.
