Re: Wheel ideas for my silver d9 estate
I agree with Lozz on the Tsw's, they are a very nice alloy and suit the 406

D8 2.1 TD saloon, oh yeah

Yup they are nice roy trouble is there as hard to get hold of as Nimrods,Roylewaa wrote:I agree with Lozz on the Tsw's, they are a very nice alloy and suit the 406
the Reflex alloys dont have as much of a lip on the edge like other alloys so theyre pretty good if you get close too a curb
there Mega heavy tho ,
Ihad a set last year on my mk 2 mondey theyd of gone straight on the 406 im kicking my self abit now that ilet them go with the car

they Apear on Ebay from time to time but theyre either mashed or there at a Ridiculas price,
Tsw dont make them anymore so theyre something people grab as soon as there listed,

I know how you feel mate, I feel like that about a set I had on my Mondie and Mazda 323, Team dynamics Monza 17"s
I bought them locally cheap for £50 as there was only 3 wheels, I managed to get a 4th new alloy for £70 from an alloy wheel suppliers old stock after trawling the net for weeks (as they were a discontinued wheel replaced by the Monza R)
They were multi fit 4x100 & 4x108 so would have went on the 406 with spacers

It was made worse when the guy I sold the car to said he didnt like low profile alloys and would just take them off and sell them (as I gave him the original alloys with the 323 aswell

If you can find a set, these look great:

But if you're looking at aftermarket styles, multispoke or cross-spokey patterns suit pretty much anything. I had multispokes on my T reg saloon & they looked great.

When'd you get Nautilus alloys?
Personally I don't like them; I much prefer the Hoggars - but they have a tendency to bubble as I don't think the paint/coating is very good on them. I will probably get mine refurbished at some point though because I like them.
The ones I like best from the Coupe are the Tacoma alloys but you don't get them here, and they go for stupid money when they do show up on eBay international.

Got them a few weeks ago for £90, but only just got them refurbed (£300!!!) & they went on the car Saturday. 2 of the 3 sets of Hoggars are now for sale with the 3rd set being kept for spares for either winter or new tyre time. Was going to get all the good tyres stripped off & sell the wheels, but got charged £50 to change them over & new tyres are only £50 each fitted & balanced!

I'm not a fan of the Starfish alloys myself, even on the Coupe (and they were apparently also designed by Pininfarina).
I really like the Tacoma alloys but they just don't seem to exist in the UK, and go for stupid money elsewhere:

It's a shame the bigger Pugs got 5 stud hubs as some 607s have what look like 17ins versions of those wheels.highlander wrote:I'm not a fan of the Starfish alloys myself, even on the Coupe (and they were apparently also designed by Pininfarina).
