When the car had the MOT a couple of weeks ago I got an advisory on anti-roll bar bushes & rear subframe bushes. Contemplating getting these done when it goes in to get the air con fixed, so 2 questions really.

1. How much should it cost for this to be done? She said the anti-roll bar bushes aren't too hard to do, but have a sneaking suspicion the rear subframe won't be too cheap.

2. Are there any uprated items available? A few years ago poly bushes were all the rage, but nobody seems to do them for the 406.

The rear subframe bushes? sounds like the trailing arm bushes to me? if so they can be a bit of a faff - need a press to get them in and have to unbolt a few things etc. for access.

The rear anti-roll bar mounting bushes are up on the rear bulkhead kinda thing but the one on the petrol filler side requires the tank/filler pipe to be dropped slightly to get a socket on the bolts :roll: care is therefore needed to prevent any bits entering the filler neck :|

demon tweeks do a range of universal roll bar bushes. Just give them the size you need.

Btw the bush clamp bolts have been known to shear so soak the buggers in WD for a few days first.

poly bushes?
not a big fan would rather buy genuine,look at it this way
1 you know they will fit
2 you know how the car feels
3 if you dont like the way car feels with these bushes on you will have to swap/replace them so more time/money
4 if the originals have been in for so long they have nt done a bad job have they?.

Ive always replaced worn standard bushes with poly jobbies, but the 406 is not really catered for. ive done a full poly kit an 8K mile scooby sti and the difference was vastly noticeable and it wasnt too harsh either, alittle noisier but felt much more precise. 8)

Very sound logic there.

Sure she said front anti-roll bar bushes. Didn't think I had a rear anti-roll bar.

Garage doing it for me so hopefully they'll know what they're doing with them.
