Thats about right mate. My 2L sits between 70 and 80 most of the times. goes to 100 if I'm standing in traffic a long time.
During normal driving it sits at 81 degrees. If I start pottering about town it can go up to 95 but doesn't normally go above that as the fans will have kicked in by then. Mine's a diesel btw.
Well it used to stay @ 70 degrees and never go higher regardless of weather conditions..... BUT THEN..... I let some muppetts a a garage do an MOT for me, when the car came back it was @ 100 degrees and smelt of clutch and thrash ! !
2 new cooling fans, a thermostat, a new temp sensor, and a shed load of coolant and now it sits between 75 - 90, but never goes over 90.... fans cut in @ 87 degrees and take it back down to about 75 before shutting off....

Mine is fcked, its up and down like a prostitutes knickers.
Thats something else I need sorting. It used to be ok but the washer rubber pipe came off and when I went to clean the windscreen it went all over the coolant reservoir and electrics.
