been no more mayo yet and iv ran the car quiet a few times, what seal?

Re: help with xu10j2te
The picture in Service Box just shows a bag of seals & gaskets, along with the head gasket, so I've no idea if there are any other seals used in conjunction with the head gasket. If there's no more mayo then ok, the problem is I don't know this engine so I'm guessing

Re: help with xu10j2te
thought id update this and see if anyone can shed any light
ok after changing numerous things on my engine (list below) i went back to the car when cold and started it, ran fine when cold but after idleing at around 1.2-4k revs it settled down a bit less then original idle and started running rough when the engine got earm. popping from the exhaust, smoking from the exhaust after a while which gets worse the longer its ran. revving the engine it pops and bangs too when warm but only a little bit when cold, and last of all its smoking a little tiny bit with a bit of pressure behind it too out of one of the oil filler cap holes which is atm open(will but a small filter for it).
engine is a 2.0 8v turbo xu10j2te
changed so far:
spark plugs/leads
coil pack
coolant temp sensor
idle control valve
different throttle body
different set of injectors
ignition module
ecu
pipe going from throttle body to ecu
compression test shows all pots are fine, water isnt mixing with oil at all neither.
sprayed some carb cleaner around the tb/inlet and vacuum pipes and nothing at all.

Re: help with xu10j2te
I may have misunderstood your first post re cam and sprocket being a 1.9, is this non standard to your car? If so is it possible that the timing hole may be in a different position or the cam profile being different thus causing a timing mismatch?

Re: help with xu10j2te
cam is off a 1.9 but the cam sprocket is off a 2.0, engine is in a 306
Re: help with xu10j2te
May be a shot in the dark but do the 1.9 and 2.0 camshaft sprockets have the same amount of teeth and fit onto the camshaft with the same orientation of timing hole. I think that I'd like to see one of each side by side to compare them or check service box and see if the part numbers are the same. Like I say I may be thinking in entirely the wrong direction but it rules out another variable.

Re: help with xu10j2te
The pulley should be the same as the 1.9 a few people have run the GTI cam with no problems, How have you wired in the engine loom into the 306? I just ask as im breaking my 406 and putting the engine into a 306 too
It sounds like a fueling problem, its like as the engine is warming up and changes to warm running it goes tits up. Its hard to say without looking at it

Re: help with xu10j2te
got the loom off pug1off. my brother made a loom for the 306 but the only thing he couldnt get running was the speedo so i took the plunge and bought one from pug1off.
started the engine yesterday from cold and revved it a few times but was boggin down and backfiring etc this time, unplugged the tps and the engine started revving up so put my thumb half way over the icv to bring the revs down, it then revved with no problems, would the tps cause it to run like this? dont want to spend more money on something that wont fix it?
as stated already tho people have ran this camshaft already in the turbo engine with no problems. my next move might be taking the head off but its running on all 4 cylinders now
i changed the injectors around a few times and for a different set which are known working ones and still the same. changed the vacuum pipes for different ones too.

Sounds like your getting closer with the TPS / ICV i have a spare throttle body with sensors if you need it to try for elimination purposes, depends how local you are lol.

Re: help with xu10j2te
Mine displayed these kind of symptoms when i ran the original dump valve to atmosphere, popping backfiring running like pooh.

Re: help with xu10j2te
i got rid of the recirc valve and put my dumpvalve on it and everything is joined up no loose ends etc, im going to try my luck tommorow at going round the engine cleaning the earth contacts and add a couple more earths to ease my mind on it not being something silly like that

Re: help with xu10j2te
Hi mate,
I have the same ish setup as you and had similar problems on the way.
I ended up with a 200sx fuelpump running from the battery with ecu as a switch via a relay and after market FPR running3.5bar.
Standard 406 ecu (flashed)disconected turbo boost regulator that goes to ecu.
1 bar boost and all seems fine.
I have a 1.9 cam but its only a small gain ,i was going to put it on when i change the belt next week.
I have checked auto data for you and for and Missfire check sequence says MAP or MAF sensor, fuel delivery ie pump/FPR pipe or tank. It also says ecu fault.
Erratic idle is all sensor related ie temp, MAP ,MAF or ecu
So the most obvious is MAF or MAP or ECU as it shows up on all you problems
I would check fuel pressure then get a voltmeter out and start checking those sensors.
I can give you the test readings if you want just tell me which ones.

Re: help with xu10j2te
Hi,
im running a 306 gti6 fuel pump which should be more then up for the job, the pump seems to be working fine as its over fueling from looking at the plugs being black after a short run. as far as i know theres no way i can wire up the pump wrong unless someone can correct me? iv changed the ecu for another which i have and the problem has not dissapeared (map sensor in ecu). the idleing is doing the same as it did on my last engine which idle is sticking when i rev the engine up but also popping etc. would love it if you could get me the readings for the sensors that could cause my problems like the coolant temp sensor and what ever else it shows up on autodata.
i tried the engine today putting my thumb over icv with tps plugged in and you can tell its still running rough but just doesnt pop and fart etc. is anyone local to hindley/wigan who has a turbo engine that i could borrow there ecu to ease my mind on it not being the map sensor?
my next thing to do is whip the head off and change it for a standard head with standard cam if i dont hear of anything else i can try soon

Arrgh
I cant copy and paste the tables on autodata.
PM me an address and i will try and burn a copy to disk for you.
I had so many things go tits up before i got it running ok Ish
i would'nt take anything apart or buy anything else till you 100% check what you already have.
