!BREAKING! 1996 406 1.9td lx saloon green

Post by jameslxdt »

my 406 has unfortunatley come to the end of its life (but has already been replaced with another 406 :cheesy: ), it is a 1996 1.9 td lx saloon in green, its got a/c that works, the engine is no good, it has a genuine full peugeot exhaust system which is barely 2,000 miles old, it has a brand new r/f key which if wanted would be sold with the matching c/l ecu, it has a brand new temp display, the radio does not work and the aux belt, tensioner and roller is sold already!
let me know what you want anything and ill let you know what i can do for you!
cheers
James

edit: sorry forgot to mention it also has a new genuine intercooler which has barely coverd 1000 miles!

What happened to the Engine ?

As far as the A/C goes, then if it is the same system, Bluey would need the Condenser radiator and the the compressor he could bolt these into his existing pipework and then get it gassed up.

if you want the a/c system your welcome to it, ive no idea how much its worth or how much it would cost to post,
as regarding what happend to the engine, the cambelt tensioner is part of the engine mounting, the engine mounting sheared off from the block and took the cambelt with it
the car needed a turbo as well so it wasnt worth repairing,
another thing i forgot to mention is it has brand new brake hoses all round (non abs)

cheers

Woot! That'd be grand, some beer bucks in it for you :)
jameslxdt, PM me with an offer on the AC parts. I'm gonna go see if the condenser from a Diesel will fit a Petrol.

Really.... dont.

The heater controls and total system are all different. You would need to pull the car apart to fit the evaporator housing and the refrigerant circuit. Then there the aircon pipes..... have to be imported from france as your local pug dealer wont have any, then the system has to be pressurized. Not to mention removing your current rad and fans somehow fitting the rather large condensor on front, then finding a way to stick the fans back, but in front of the condensor.....

I know a guy in Finland who tried it on his 306, car was in bits for 8 weeks before he gave up. On the upside he did complete in a year later, he ended up changing the enitre dash as well.

Foxy, Bluey already has aircon but thinks the Condenser and/or compressor have packed up, the two cars are similar age so he just needs to check the connections for the parts are in the same place, between the Petrol and the Diesel models, everything else is already there on Bluey's car.

Your right though, it would not be worth trying to fit A/C to a non A/C car because there are so many differences behind the dash etc.
