Volume a bit high

Post by FarmerPug »

The new cd unit in my car when on volume 1 is a bit too high, i have the jbl system and from other threads i believe i need some device to reduce the signal level to the speaker or something, can someone tell me precisely what i need to buy perhaps with an ebay link, this is a problem because id say if the radio was turned up to even 10 it would pop the speakers

Does the back of your H/U have phono outs as well as the iso plug for all the speakers?

In the Landy I have just managed to get the factory fitted Sub (I know i was surprised too  ) working off my new H/U,

all the door speakers, tweeters and rear speakers are just fed off the standard speaker iso plug on the back of the H/U but the sub in the backdoor has its own amp and when i frigged the connections into the iso plug it damn nearly blew my windows out even at -7 bass on the settings, so i made up a patch lead and used the phono outs (line out) to power the sub and everything else went of the iso, sounds cracking now :cheesy:

i know its an obvious one to check but you never know

failing that have a look at this

there is plenty on Google about it i just searched "speaker signal to line level"
and "speaker line level" on fleabay brings in the goodies too.

For some reason the JBL amp doesn't like being fed from line outputs, with lots of loud buzzing all the time and bangs resulting from track changing. The solution is to either change the HU settings to drop the speaker level right down, or find some hardware way of attenuating the HU's speaker outputs

loud buzzing is caused by interferance either by earth issues or power lead interfering with the RCA leads, because your radio and amps are all earthed on the same vehicle there is interferance causing annoying buzz noises usually picked up from the alternator

you can buy what they call a ground loop isolator that connects in between the siganl cables , but ive found these not to work, 8)

is that what used to happen back in the days of the datsun, the old radios made a noise if things like window washers even on different cars were on

Yeah, getting a couple of ground loop isolators in behind the stereo in a 406 would be fun... I can't even push my AVX33 in fully

if you removed the side panels at the center consol there is screws that hold the plastic support for the old stereo take that off then ull be able to get it in
