Clarion head unit and cdrs

Post by Roylewaa »

Hi chaps

When I first got my D9, the standard cd player wouldint play any discs at all, It just kept spitting them out, so I popped the head unit out and cleaned the lense with the 1 cotton bud I could find

Now the head unit will play original cd's, but still just spits out cdr's, I understand of reading a few old posts they do play cdrs, just wondering if mine was maybe a gonner in that department, or I need to clean the lense more thoroughally??

I'd rather use the standard one as I miss the stalk controls on my aftermarket one, and for some reason it looses its memory when you switch it off, and wont turn off when I switch the ignition off, and for some reason it sounds pap compared to the standard one??

cheers for any info chaps

I'm not sure about this, but I think I read on here some time ago, that you can get a new modern head unit which will operate with stalk controls.

If my mind hasn't invented this all by itself, a modern cd player would presumably play any type of cd format, possibly DVDs too for the extra room for more tracks.
There is only a very limited number of their model line-up that have the stalk remote facility, so you have to ask for it specifically.
I expect it would be easier to go to the Clarion site to find out which head units have it, or asking them, rather than going to say Halfrauds and finding out by trial and error.

P.S. that's Clarion head units

hi mate you need to switch the power feeds round on the back of the iso, i think from memory its the red and the yellow that need swapping as pug in their wisdom used the constant feed (for memory) and the switched feed(turn off and on with key) in reverse order to everybody else in the world, had to do this with mine when i put in my aftermarket stereo.
if you have a multimeter you can check them as to which is which, if not let me know and i will pull mine out and have a look for you.
