Two Radio Questions, 1 Simple, 1 Less-so

Hi,

Have swapped my 2000 406 Hdi for a newer (less mileage) 2001 406.

Went to swap out my Sony Head unit from my old 406 and put it in the new one in exchange for the Clarion Cd sitting in there and there's a couple of problems;

1. Clarion now beeps loudly (have googled and this is to do with being in a car it's vin isnt associated with correct?). Though I'd ask the experts if this really is a dealer only problem. Is there no code I can punch in or any trick I can perform? If the dealer is going to charge me 50 quid it may be worth just putting a random stereo in the old car before I sell it because I have a spare facia plate lying around.

2. I've noticed that the stalk control has changed between these models. The new stalk is a stubby little thing and there's no connection below the steering column for my PC99-x24 adapter to plug into. Which Autolead do I need now to retain stalk control of the Sony head unit? I'm assuming the pc99-x24 is redundant.

As far as I know mate, It's only a dealer that can recode a stereo to a different car, as its paired with the ecu of the car it came from, and as for the stalk adapter I would assume there will be a autoleads counterpart for the upgraded stalk if your existing one does not fit your 2001 406, maybe it might be worth have a look on ebay etc?
