Could I fit one to my 406 LX D9? Is it easy/cheap/worthwhile to do?
D8s only I'm afraid

D8 is 1996-1999 with a radiator grille like the one in my sig
D9 is 1999- with a mesh radiator grille
If I want to retro-fit it, where do I start? Do I have to go to the stealer? Or can I order it online and fit it myself? I think it probably also needs some software changes which only the stealer can do, or am I wrong?
There's a (fairly long) thread in here somewhere which covers the job. Basically it involves a lot of wiring, a bit of drilling and the bottle to attach stuff to your ECU

But like I say above, it's a D8-only procedure

From what I can tell, the D8 V6 Coupe actually had the all wiring in place for the trip computer, and in a lot of cases just needed a new wiper stalk and a switch turning
The saloon was likely a retro-fit job. Is there a single wire on its own coming out of the ECU box? Where/when was it made?
Unless you've had them from new, in which case I'm evidently talking out of my arse
