Getting rid of dents
Hello,
I have a couple* of car park related dings with people slamming their doors into mine etc. Most are small dents with unbroken paint - is there a way to remove these without calling out Dent Masters (or someone of similar ilk) who charge the earth? I see a lot of dent pulling 'kits' on fleaBay - mostly seem to use glue to grab and pull. Not sure it's up for this job...
I guess I could remove the door card (which is a pain in itself) and push it from the other side.
Any thoughts/ideas/experiences?

Re: Getting rid of dents
Wot? Nobody?
My experience is not many dents are going to go >boink< and disappear if you push them from the inside, the dent actually stretches the metal around it, so then you have to loose this, erm, somehow

Hi.
The dent kits are OK on minor dents
I've used them in the past with good results..
Best used on a warm day..

Had DingMaster out today - did all the little bumps (and one big one that I didn't see!) for £100. Amazing job - can't even see they were there.

Re: Getting rid of dents
Imagine if you had a pin-straight dent-free Volvo for example and I dunno, owned it for 7 years and err kept it out of everyone's way in car parks.
Then imagine a Citroen C4 parked next to it on your driveway. C4 doors open WIDE and the last part of the mechanism flings the door open with gusto.
Just think what could* happen if the C4 door hit the Volvo door and put a vertical crease-dent in it
Oh and Cap'n you get 1/10 for now before/after pics

Re: Getting rid of dents
Why, I'd teach said Citroen a lesson with a big hammer
YoyoII still has the dent in the rear quarter it came with, I did want to sort it out but it's gained a load more in the year we've been infested by it, so I reckon they're no point as I'll just get more annoyed by any further damage.
Conclusion: it's a mug's game trying to keep something nice as nobody else gives a sh*t

Re: Getting rid of dents
To be honest, it was a few dings which most people would have ignored. I also have a few scratches from the neighbouring (swimbo's) car that likes to rest its door against mine when one gets in and out of it.
On Monday I am getting a full valet for it including machine polish/paint correction. Will post pics then!

Re: Getting rid of dents
I asked the bodywork place next door at work how much it would be for a Machine Polish on my car........
Prices "start" at £250.00
I'd like to buy the kit and have a go, WCPGW?

Re: Getting rid of dents
I was quoted £120 for machine polish + another £140 for the full valet, so comparable. The work is going on now!

Re: Getting rid of dents
I suspect I'd be going over it afterwards with a magnifying glass...

I machine polished the Senator (at work
) as the paint was very dull, it came up rather well. But then it wouldn't have been much of a disaster if I'd made a mess of it on a 250 quid car...

Re: Getting rid of dents
Cap'n you'll need to study proper washing techniques after the MP session as you can easily 'swirl' the clear coat again after a few washes. I guess you know this and that's why you want it done for a fresh start.
Snow foam, two-buckets, grit guard, lambs wool wash mitt, MF towels etc etc ....

Re: Getting rid of dents
I can't remember the last time I washed my car....
Rain stopped play today and he's just about managed to finish MP. He's coming back tomorrow to stick some wax on - apparently it will provide 3-4 months protection.
