stalk adapter help?

Post by gRoberts »

Hi all,

I've just received my Autoleads PC99-X15/PC99-SON leads and I've noticed three bullet connectors coming from the PC99-X15 (one in series).

Unfortunately, the PC99-X15 didn't come with any documentation although it came in the right box.

Does anyone have the documentation or if possible, know what these are for?

Cheers

What colours are the wires?

As a general rule, yellow is constant 12V, red is ignition 12V and black is earth. Quite often the yellow wire will have a double female bullet connector so you can connect the ignition live to theconstant live so you can have the radio on when the ignition is switched off.

Two wires, one yellow with a male bullet connector and a black with a female bullet connector that also splits to a dark green with female bullet connector.

I assume the yellow connects to the double female bullet as you suggested but I don't want to plug it in to find it blows it up lol

I'm going to install it tomorrow once its back from getting repaired and its light. I'll try with out first and if it doesn't work, i'll connect the yellow.

Cheers

Test those wires! anyway, you never know what someone's been up to. I seem to remember being presented with a grey and a yellow on my D8, I thought maybe the yellow would be the positive but I tested them to be sure and found the reverse to be true...

lol yeah yeah.

Well its all working. My only issue is now where to put all the wire?

It looks like i'm going to have to take some of the panels around the center console to be able to pull the cables back as there are so many its stopping it from going in :(

Any advice?

Push the wires as far back and down, with the stereo as close to the dash so you can just get your hand in and out. Then try refitting the stereo.

I got it in but i'm now having issues with the stalk adapter.

When I first plugged it in, I got all functions, now I only get :

Down: Seek +
Up: Nothing
Twist clockwise: att
Twist anti-clockwise: source
In: Nothing
Out: Nothing

huff.. Has anyone experienced this before?

Cheers

Sounds like one or more of the connectors have come half undone while pushing the stereo in. Time to take it out, plug them all in properly, test it while they're all plugged together and then push the stereo back in then test them again.

lol i've got the wires pulled out by the passenger floor well. All wires seem connected fine, just for some reason they are not working as they were.

I've given up for the night as its dark and most people would actually think i'm trying to half inch the radio.

When I pulled the old radio out and tried it, it worked fine so I must have screwed up somewhere.

Just a thought - some of these multi-way connectors have a habit of pushing the individual connectors out the back when you try to hook them up (think scart lead from Lidl...)

Still no luck :(

Plugged the factory radio in and it works fine, so not sure what it is.
