Bulb gone behind Headunit display?
I have the OEM Philips Headunit fitted to my '99 406 1.8i 16v D8, it as the 6 disc Changer in the boot compartment. The problem is that the bulb as gone behind the display, is this easily replaced? or would it be better to obtain another unit? as i wanting to keep the car as standard as possible..

Car radios usually have a whole load of tiny lights behind the display, all soldered on to the circuit board. You'll have to take the front of it to bits to look but I'm thinking the fault is more serious than a blown bulb

Lever out the display, the bulbs are accessible from the top, usual small dash bulb type

Re: Bulb gone behind Headunit display?
As MJB says if you've got the seperate display from the headunit halfway up the dash. Not too sure about the headunits with the display built in but I would suspect that they would be a nightmare to change (probably soldered in LED's). It's not too difficult to take them apart and put back together though, so maybe worth taking the headunit out and having a look.
Re: Bulb gone behind Headunit display?
I had this a month ago. As has been said, carefully lever the display out and you'll see the 2 bulbs from the top. Replace with the smaller/shorter type as the normal ones won't allow the unit to go flush back in.

Word of warning is to be really careful when removing and refitting. There are 2 brittle wires powerering the bulbs and these broke on mine as I removed the unit. Basically, test the bulbs before you pop it all back together.
Bulbs are readily avaiable on the internerd cheap enough:
