very lumpy when cold

hi i have a x reg 2.2 sri,and when i start it from cold it is very lumpy,and when i drive it for about 15 to 20 min it is fine,and i think it could be better on petrol as it is only doing around the 25mpg,any one got any ideas,please

Try changing the coolant temperature sensor
