Fog lights and the MOT test

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Fog lights and the MOT test

Post by FarmerPug »

I bought a replacement bumper for the 106 with fog lights, the car has no wiring or switches for the fog lights but i bought them parts just havent had the time to get them wired up. Can the car be put through an MOT test with fog lights that dont work? I could fit the blanking plates back on until i get the chance to wire them in, but i am just curios as to how the mot works.

Unfortunately anything used on or after the 1st of April 1980 requires a working rear fog.

If it is fitted to the car then it MUST work, ( except rear wiper and reverse light ) if you fit the blanks instead, or simply take them out, then no problem.

My previous car up to mid 2012 was a 106 with front foglights that didn't work.

OOOh, I stand corrected.

I have known cars to fail an MOT on front fogs but I think that was because the lens was cracked.

So, rear wiper, reversing light and front fogs are not required to work..

Apologies, Kelv.
