406 TUNNING TIPS
I have heard by removing the orange connector of the top of the fuel pump it increases low end power makes the car smoother increases fuel economy? Has anyone else tried this?

Leave the engine the heck alone. For maximum reliability, comfort and mpg.

I can't remember who posted it. I seen it on a diesel drivers website. Apparently on hdi engines removing the orange connector makes the pump run on 3 pistons instead of 2. The 3rd piston comes into play mid range when turbo cuts in. It is suppose to make it quicker low down and increase economy. A lot better in remapped cars. I have been told. Mine is superchipped as standard 110 hdi now its around 150 bhp with overboost. 0 to 60 is now a little over 9 secs
as appose to 11.2 as standard. turbo cuts in at 1500 and runs all the way to 4000 as appose to 2000 and to 3000. I have turbo all the way to 120 mph on a private roads
i know its £515 buts it cheaper and quicker than a 2.2. 136 hdi. Friend has a 407 136 hdi and it leaves his standing

ive never heard of doing this before, but i have a feeling it will raise the fuel rail pressure and cause some premature wear of the pump and injectors

the next thing i would do is to get a decat, then you will have even less lag, and a bit more boost at the top end,

Yeah, it made no difference on mine on the standard engine, but made a very noticeable difference once the tuning box went on. It even went though the MOT like it.
Word is it makes a very big difference to the 206 HDi 2.0, so there may be siome quirk in the management or programming on them that makes it especially beneficial.

Yes i know brought ex g/f a lovely 206 xsi hdi 90 in aegan blue and got it super chipped and was producing around 120 bhp
shame we are no longer together
did not get chance to remove the plug on hers
I would imagine it works better on 110 hdi's as they have a 3 stage turbo with over boost hence mine is 140 bhp with overboost 150

Oh no!rapport25 wrote:I can't remember who posted it. I seen it on a diesel drivers website. Apparently on hdi engines removing the orange connector makes the pump run on 3 pistons instead of 2. Seriously its amazing to drive for a diesel. I have owned many sporting pugs over many years around 15 in total. And i have to admit this is the most sensible car i have owned. Best thing about it it looks very standard on the outside even a toe bar at the rear as my mates say a wolf in sheeps clothing
. Depending on if you live near me you are more than welcome to take mine for a drive. The figures i am quoting are geniune no bull. 0 to 60 times and top speeds were carried out using a sat nav so they are pretty acurate with out buying very expensive test machines to check this. Its like someone gives it a kick up the backside when you accelerate. Also the other reason i purchased this was the economy factor. When town driving which i hate
Normally you would have to be in 3rd at 30 mph. And forget using 5th at 40mph. You can drive when its chipped in 4th at 30 mph and a liitle under 40 mph in 5th. So incresed fuel economy is achieved. When you drive it hard you still hit the same as standard on fuel economy. Depending what engine you have mine was a 110 hdi now 150
I would also reccomened removing the orange connecter as described in previous threads. Best races with mates audi a3 2.0 tdi 140 bhp blows away also other friend has a 407 136 hdi same again very funny

Did you go to a tuning place to have that done?
My mechanic spent £600.00 chipping his Golf 90 to 130BHP. It's more money than these mobile £300.00 jobs, but perhaps a lot better/more reliable/safe for the engine?
I've always been bother that one of these mobile places will just increase the boost and fuel map, but leave you with it. I would want to know how the cooling system reacts, and the oil temperature with the higher boost.
