Well I thought it was about time I should say hello.
I found the forum while looking for info about an issue on my 406 which I'm now "fingers crossed" on the way to having sorted so a a massive thanks to those guys who have given much needed help and input on this matter in the help section.
A little about me. I have 2 406's both HDI, ones a 90 and the other a 110, both my work cars so guess what I do for a livening!!! My other car which is the family bus is a 04 mondeo ghia TDCI 130 estate for my sins. Not a bad car but its not as good as the 406 (my opinion) so I will be in the near future looking for a 2001 or newer 406 estate plus trying to get the family on the other side of the pond to have diesel and teach them all about Peugeot!!!
I tried a Mondeo TDCI 130 estate before opting for my previous 2.2 HDi estate and never regretted that decision.
406's good iron.
Don't get me wrong the mondeo is a nice car and has amazing mpg as it's got the 6 speed box but I much rather drive the 406 and my wife to be also loves the 406 so she wants to change the mondeo for a 406 estate.
With only ever having the 2.0 HDI plus the older 1.9 and 2.1 (years ago) what is the 2.2 HDI like and is it better, the same or worse than the 2.0 on fuel?

Very smooth & quiet, brisk in std form and surprisingly quick when remapped. I'd say a bit heavier on fuel than a 2.0, (but you don't get owt for nowt).
Govt. figures are about 48 mpg for a HDi 90, 50 for a 110 and 44 for a 2.2
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
