Cant get rear caliper pins out (ones that need hammering)

ive been using a small hammer and screwdrivers to try and bang it out but they dont seem to budge.

also didnt get any new pins with the pads so i hope they go back in ok

ill get a bigger hammer and some caliper punches tomorrow, hope it comes out ok and i havent ruined the ends of the pins

Hm I am about to embark on a similar journey. Have you read mjb's howto? Soak it in WD40 overnight, should help.

just read the how to on Adjusting the handbrake on disc type drums, but it doesnt say whether you do all the procedures with the handbrake on or off, anyone know?

You are punching them out to in, yes? It always amazes me that garages put stuff like this back together without any form of lubrication, I suppose they save themselves a massive 20 seconds a side and a few microgrammes of copper grease :roll:

A proper good clean up with a wire brush, a good soak in WD40 and if they still wont move i usually work them loose with a good set of vice grips, once you get them to turn a little they will come out no probs 8)

A pwoppa parallel pin punch would be useful, yes. I'm sure you can pick something up from Halfords, or even your local factor's.

What about just cutting through them? Would that work?

cutting is the easy option but i dont think he has any new ones :roll: and is hoping to reuse the old ones.
i think he needs to get a fresh set and just butcher the old ones off.

dont most pads come with new ones? they were pagid ones aswell so not cheapo
