Y reg 406 HDi 110 gearbox prob

Post by v8disco »

Hello All.

Just found this board after being a 406 owner for 5 years.

I've got a Y reg GTX 110hdi estate with 80K miles that has been perfect in the last year/24k miles I have owned it, but in the last week I have started noticing that the gear leaver baulkes going down from 4th to 3rd gear. Give it a good shove and it goes in, but be gentle with it and it seems to stop half way. The other gears are fine.

This sound familiar to anyone? any ideas

Cheers

Hello, 5 years and only just found us! (you don't know what your missing!!)

Anyway, try this: http://new.406oc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t= ... highlight=

Or, I think another member (supafrisk) has experience with gear selector problems (she has covered many miles in 406's, and I mean many miles)

Thanks for the replies. I guess i'm going to have to get under it and check bolts, bushes etc.

Regarding the clutch, not sure how you tell how much its worn. There is no slippage but
it is almost certainly the original so at 80K miles is probably past its best

Cheers
