Hi everyone from the originator of the fuel flap bodge, long time no login, but I have a problem.
A ticking/clicking noise is comming through the speakers.
It starts as soon as the head unit powers up in both Aux & Ign positions at about 2 ticks per second and gets faster when the engine is stated but is not related to engine speed.
I don't think it is radio interferance as it is the same on CD.
Any ideas/help welcome.

Re: Ticking noise
Hmmm, I'm thinking earth leak somewhere...
Have you tried pulling out the head unit and reseating the connector? This has caused strange problems for me in the past.
Another thought; is the cabin fan running at the time?

Re: Ticking noise
Sounds like the amp in the head unit is giving up the ghost in that case...

Re: Ticking noise
OK, what do you think repair or replace? If I get a second hand one would it need recoding?
Just had a thought. what if I swap head unit from my other identical car to see if the noise goes with it? Any probs with code issues?

Re: Ticking noise
That's a good point. Yours is a D9 isn't it? The radios are coded to the car so a replacement would need to be recoded by your friendly stealer.
Maybe worth trying a generic head unit to double check that the noise disappears before you shell out any money!
