Perhaps we can get a volunteer in the UK...

I know what you mean, I can't speak much Croatian, just enough to get by, but I can't speak any at all if I'm flustered and/or angry.

It could be possible, I'm listening. Getting the parts here in Ita could be much more of an issue, it even costs more. I found an interesting site but it says some parts are for my car when actually they arent (it thinks I haven't got discs on the rear brakes... bah)

However i ringed ECP and succeeded in agreeing on bank transfer. I fear bank transfer is a lot slower than CC transfer tho, at least this is true in ITA (takes 2-5 days), maybe not in the UK?

I think it used to be 7 working days (i.e. not Saturdays, Sundays, bank holidays or whenever they feel like it days), which is a joke considering it's only taken until the end of the day for many years and is probably instant now. Hopefully this has changed since I last had to use it (I doubt it though  )

The guy said it's instant... I highly doubt it too. Well, we are in the game, let's play. (it's a saying  )

Firstly Instances of retailers not accepting paypal isn't uncommon

Secondly, shipping to an address not assigned to the credit card, well, let's think about it, "could" sound dodgy couldn't it

On the paypal thing, it leaves the retailer wide open, and again, can be sent to any address

Can't really blame the retailer for covering their own arse

I know it's not what you want to hear, and yes it's a right royal PITA, but in increasing times of tinternet fraud, well, I don't blame them

I do not see anything wrong with shipping to a different address. I honesly believe credit cards are an absolutely idiot way of payment. Let alone bank transfer, what a primitive way of payment!
Paypal is much more secure as long as you keep your password well, especially if you have an agreement that offers Paypal protection similar to what you get if you buy on Ebay using Paypal (got scammed twice on Ebay, always got my money back in a week or less). Believe me, a friend of mine went through it.
Do you wanna know why they do not use paypal? Fees. Paypal fees: that's the only reason, believe me.

BTW, they only ship if they have the money in their bank. They do not ship when the money transfer can still be blocked by Visa/whatever.

We as a transport firm got contacted to collect two quad bikes local to us and take them to an address in Birmingham
We delivered them and thought nothing of it

Turns out the bikes were bought on a stolen credit card
Obviously not shipped to the confirmed address on the credit card
Retailer lost out to the cost of two quad bikes

So if you can't see a problem of not going to a confirmed address, I can

Plus, you don't think there is fees associated with a credit card?

eeeeeerrrrrr... yeah, that's why credit cards are much less secure than paypal if one has some care of his password.
Out of curiosity, why did the retailer lose money? If he shipped the bikes after he got paid?
Fees associated with a credit card are lower than those with paypal. At least this is true in ITA, listening to my friend.

Aren't credit cards insured for that sort of thing? As said, I had some problems back in the early days but I guess my credit card co. got used to it. Or something :?

They usually block my dad's credit card when he's over here, even after he told them he would be using it here

Unless i'm reading it wrong, you are speaking on behalf of the buyer
I'm trying to consider both sides

I know a retailer that won't accept paypal and only accepts credit/debit cards and only ships to confirmed addresses
Doesn't do them any harm as they are one of the biggest remote control model shops in the U.K. despatching around a 1000 packages a week
Doing this they are covered if anything goes wrong
Paypal can be hijacked and any address added

I bought some clocks this week and sent them off to another member here and does paypal consider it wrong? No

In answer to your question, because the retailer allowed them to be picked up by a transport firm contracted by the fraudulent buyer ( not that we knew that at the time ) and didn't ship out himself to a confirmed address, he had to repay the money

Yes, I agree, paypal fees are very high, sometimes up to 10% whereas a credit card somewhere around 2%

They also do charge back on pay-pal so a s-pose that couid put some companys off using it,
irember once selling a car stereo system on Ebay igot payed something like £95 14 days or so later Pay-pal came back and confascated the money the buyer had set up something where he had no spending limits or something at the end result somehow he didnt have the monies in his account when pay-pal went in for it and it bouced back on me,
ibasicly wouid of been better off throwing the stereo system in the bin and thrown the £8 postage money in a charity box,
oh and Ebays fees too,

Pay-pal can be dodgey for a seller :(
