Re: Another bargain!
I wouldnt consider a rover a decent car, the 75 is a nice car inside but in their dying years they didnt really make many new cars, the last car rover made which was all rover and with the times was the sd1.
But the dark photos rover i would worry over mayonase in the oil caps as them rovers do so well, but is that not a honda engined 1.6?

The bubble shaped Rover 200 I wouldn't go near with a bargepole. Especially a boy racered one. Not a decent car.406executiveHDI wrote:I wouldnt consider a rover a decent car, the 75 is a nice car inside but in their dying years they didnt really make many new cars, the last car rover made which was all rover and with the times was the sd1.

I meant that if he wasn't up all night getting ladies up the duff he might be more constructive and save up to buy a decent car (not a 200

Would be tempted by a 75, but with the B*W 2.5 diesel engine.
I think the bubble shaped one had a K series 1.6. The Honda 1.6s were in some of the earlier "glasshouse" 200s (which I did like...)

Re: Another bargain!
The square rovers of the early 90's were not bad but its so obvious that they are just hondas with rover on them. The 75 never had a 2.5 diesel?
As for getting ladies up the duff, i dont think its really a reason to go out and buy a people carrier straight away, 1 child is no larger than an adult, they even fit in a 406, actually i had 3 of my younger cousins in the back of the car 2 in booster seats and it continued to operate like a normal car, the yummy mummy brigade dont understand that so chrysler voyager sales shoot up once they have 1 child.

You're right, it was the 2.0 B*W unit it used, the Omega used the 2.5.406executiveHDI wrote:The square rovers of the early 90's were not bad but its so obvious that they are just hondas with rover on them. The 75 never had a 2.5 diesel?
Those and those bloody 4x4 SUV urban assault vehicles they all insist on buying, despite living off the Lisburn Road! Especially when they don't seem to be able to use mirrors!!!As for getting ladies up the duff, i dont think its really a reason to go out and buy a people carrier straight away, 1 child is no larger than an adult, they even fit in a 406, actually i had 3 of my younger cousins in the back of the car 2 in booster seats and it continued to operate like a normal car, the yummy mummy brigade dont understand that so chrysler voyager sales shoot up once they have 1 child.

Re: Another bargain!
They dont use mirrors and they are doing other stuff while driving such as being on the phone or looking in the mirror at themselves, they tailgate, dont indicate, and generally are a huge nuisance all for just 1 child, then you see the sensible parents with 3 children picking them up in normal hatchbacks and saloons with no problem. Above all else the big 4x4s and 7 seat MPVs are polluting like mad for very few passengers. Having said that i quite like the look of the new 3008.

Re: Another bargain!
The Alfa GTV could fit two bairns in the back no problem. (If you had a family that is!
)
3008 grille looks an improvement over the 308. That and the 508 seem to be going in the right direction.
Speaking of "bargains"
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... SS:GB:1123
£90 for a Windows 3.1 Commdore 64.
Maybe if it was £80 less I would consider it as a curiosity...

Re: Another bargain!
No real catch when new, just in 1998 it was £250 or so for a 486 running Win3.1 and a dialup modem, with a built in C64 emulator.

Re: Another bargain!
that sounds like a beast of a machine.
Re: Another bargain!
Not a fan of rovers but did have a 620 for 3 years
Never once let me down
At the time, WD40 was a squid a can, and I would buy one every week, and soak the engine bay with the whole can
Basically the car is a Honda Accord, and I remember taking the odd thing out the engine bay to clean up, and it was emblazoned with "honda", so think I can be forgiven

Re: Another bargain!
The k series cars were crap i wouldnt take one as a gift because they are a bastid to sell on. But i think theres an understated elegance about the 800 facelift especially the hatchback/fastback in dark blue or british racing green with the 2.7 honda v6 not the 2.5kv6, and i do like the sd1 a red v8

It's here!!!steve_earwig wrote:Never mind, winter's coming, and as every Croat knows fitting winter tyres to your car means you can carry on driving just the same

1998 Audi A6 1.9 TDI CRASHED, FORWARD (bit?), 1950€
2008 Ford Fiesta 1.4 crashed (that lasted well then

The text says the airbags didn't activate

2005 Opel Astra GTC - crashed 4,000€
2007 Nissan 350Z 07g crashed (no sh!t Sherlock) 7,500€
(hold on, that's a breaker's and they're only the other side of Zagreb

2005 Peugeot 407 2.0 HDI SW5,200€
Thems is probably winter tyres on it, hence the alloys with nothing
Something missing...
Yep, I'm sure there's something meant to go there...
Airbag in the face anyone?
No mention of where the engine ended up...
Oooh, look what that place selling the Z has in stock for 95 quid:

Btw I'm not sure if it's me getting used to the stupid prices here but are they actually approaching reality now?

heres a few austins:
http://edinburgh.gumtree.com/edinburgh/95/68054995.html
mmmmm nice seats:
http://belfast.gumtree.com/belfast/57/66995357.html
dry stored since, (when?)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1979-AUSTIN-ALLEG ... 707wt_1141
im trying hard to find examples of crummy BL stuff but theres too much lovingly restored stuff today, but here we go:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MINI-METRO-AUTO-A ... 701wt_1141
unfortunatley thats all the crap bl stuff for sale at the moment because of good condition bl stuff like this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-ROVER-MAESTR ... 768wt_1141
it looks perfect but the interior pic of the dash shows the common maestro problem of the cracking dash, in this case the dash is actually expanding.

I like the driveshaft dropper, for the age it's stunning
The first All Agro looks good too (what's wrong with blue burn-your-arse vinyl seats?)
Love this bit:
I can just picture that with a tank rolling over it...
That Maestro's only 9 years old so it should be immaculate. Oooh, it's a left hooker! LPG too! Nah, stuff that, it's still a Maestro, a turd by any other name...
