Hi, I've got a strange prob my 2.0 Hdi 90 Rapier starts fine but when you drive a little way say after 1/4 mile and stop at junctions etc it starts to wobble kinda like sitting in an armchair made of jelly but as it warms up it fades and stops.
I thought maybe engine mounts but would expect it to wobble all the time? I've tried accel hard to see if the engine would jump but theres no knocks or anything, gear changes are free and easy so im at a bit of loss, also on occasions there is a BEEP and a red warning light flashes but its so quick I can't see which one any ideas?

Coolant temperature sensor/

check your coolant level
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Wondered about a temp sensor as I had one fail on a 3.0 Monza I once had caused no end of hassle till I found it by chance Where about is the sensor on the 406?
Depends what you mean by a wobble....do you mean the engine is wobbling on tickover like a cylinder is not firing? If so you may have a dirty injector or something, change the filter and fit some injection cleaner direct in the diesel filter housing.
Maybe you do have an engine mounting fault....check them all for excessive movement/splits in the rubber, etc. Take hold of somewhere solid on the engine and try to rock the engine about...see if it moves too much. The rear lower mount is the most common failure, but so is the top mount.
Thanks, think i'll do the fuel filter first as it only happens at idle when warming up, its not there when it first starts from cold, nor is it there when the engine is hot only once you've driven a short distance and are stopped in traffic or at junctions.
It looks like the top mount has been changed at some point...will try to give the engine a rock though.
Been a long time, but have been given another solution to this problem, might be an injector failing causeing it to drop onto 3 cylinders at idle. Had thought it was running on 3 but as this is my first diesel couldn't figure that one out
Mechanic surgested a "Spill Test"??
