My problem; car starts ok but after about 2 miles it stops (low revs and stalls)... no power. After frequently starting and pumping accelerator (only low revs) for the next ten minutes or so it starts normally and off we go again. I have tried starting and leaving to idle for ten minutes and the same thing happens; stalls and no power. Again after about ten minutes of trying to start it goes (revs as normal) and all seems well. I am then able to continue my journey with no problems.
Addition; I have found a large split in the concertina part of the air hose (rear of air filter). Could this be the cause?

Sounds like the idle air control valve.
In addition to mjb's advice check that the plug connecting to the solenoid on the valve is making good contact.mjb wrote: Idle control valve. Do a search on here to find my hunt for it. It's at the front by the radiator underneath the air intake pipe going to the throttle body. Give it a good blast with carb cleaner
