Hey guys i have a problem with the big 406.
Last night as i was driving the fuel return pipe came off so i had deisel over the engine wiped as much as i could of. When i got home i degreased and hosed the engine down whilst it was running and it was fine. Started the car an hour later took my mate home then went to the gf 40 mile trip and the car was fine got up went to start the car and its just turning over with no sign of starting.
Things i have done..
Checked for fuel in each injecter - ok
checked fuses and as much of the wiring as i can - ok
fuel in the car - half a tank
i noticed that there is a slight gunge in the coolant tank.
could any one shed some light?? does it sound mechanical or electrical??
all input welcome.
regards Trell

Not likely to be the cause of the non-starting I don't think (I don't know diseasels), but it is a sign that your head gasket's going.trell wrote:i noticed that there is a slight gunge in the coolant tank.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: 2.1 td problem starting
My guess would have been air locked, but if its getting fuel at the injectors then it shouldn't be that.
As you had problems with the fuel system I'd start by bledding it...

The "hosing the engine down while it's running" I find a bit scarey, all the connectors should be sealed but they ain't perfect...
