Probably Phillips. You shove the CDs in the changer magazine (I suggest 3 face up and 3 face down so you can work out which way is correct!) then press the buttons 1-6 on the head unit.

I think... First thing I've done with my 406s has been to put my MP3 head in :)

Yup, if the cartridge is empty or missing it won't do anything.

Welcome by the way :D

There should be a "SRC" button on the radio.
You need to press that to select the CD player as the source.

Thanks for your help you guys, just hope it's working. It's my first peugeot, i've always had mondeos so im looking forward to the change. It's a 1998 406 LXS TD, in racing green. I picked it up for £500 it's only done 75000 on new engine taken from an accident damaged car - value or not?
I'll keep you informed.
Thanks Again

hi

well i finally got the 406, lovely motor and the cd works when it feelds like as it tends to keep coming up with "no disc" and there are 6 in the cartridge and all the correct way round.
Do you reckon this could be due to condensation/cold this time of year or any ideas what else it could be?

thanks in advance

Could be condensation, but that'd clear up quickly. I'd be tempted to say the lens is dirty. Avoid "lens cleaners" - they scratch and the fluids supplied often do nasty things to the lens. Take the changer apart and clean the lens with a cotton bud and some contact lens cleaner or soapy water. Half hour job
