Turns out it was some kind of low pressure sensor for the turbo which turned the turbo off. Fault was remedied by turning the car off and on again which I did straight away the first tome hence didn't notice the lack of power, but the next time the light came on I realised the turbo had stopped working. On restarting the car it was fine again although the light stayed on for about 24hrs.
