A/C fan stops working for short time

A/C fan stops working for short time
Last year I had this problem several times. Recent days it happened again 2-3 times. The A/C starts working with cool air and in one moment the fan stops (on Auto mode). I tried to change fan speed manually but it does not work at any speed. After 20-30 seconds up to 1 minute it resumes its work. Next day the same happened. I had this problem for the first time in spring of 2020. This winter the fan was working all time and last days when weather become relatively warm with little need of cooling in the middle of day it happened again. I guess the problem is in A/C Actuator (e.g. Valeo item 509355). It is strange why in winter there was no problem and it occurs in warm days.

I'm not sure the 406's have a fan "resistor" pack like that... I'd say something's getting warm but it's the heater, so everything is getting warm! We did have a few burned out fan connectors, maybe these would be worth looking at.

Is it only happening in Auto? What happened if you manually set the fan speed from the start?
Regarding the Valeo 509355 you mentioned, I think it exists in D8 but not D9 (I'm not sure).

Where I can find them?steve_earwig wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 8:08 am We did have a few burned out fan connectors, maybe these would be worth looking at.
With manual control the fan is OFF at all levels.
About Valeo 509355 - I have seen it mentioned in other forums. And Service Box says that my 406 has OEM 6441.L2
Re: A/C fan stops working for short time
I think you can access the blower fan from underneath the glovebox (never tried it personally, though).

Re: A/C fan stops working for short time
Most of the time Service Box says (said ) control box "where fitted". I think the later blower fans are PCM via an amplifier, I could be wrong of course...
Remove glovebox, look for the fan, there should be 2 huge wires going to it, look for the connectors. If they're fine leave the glovebox off because next time it messes up you're looking for voltage on those wires.

Yeah, the resistor often goes on the later models.
There is a section of carpet under the glove box, remove this by popping out the tabs, then look for the big wires going into a green connector.
Wiggle these wires, if the fan bursts into life then the connection is a bit dodgy, if your blower only works on full speed then the resistor itself is goosed.
On the odd occasion, the ignition wires get old and brittle, and wiggling the key in the ignition sometimes makes the fan work.
In either instance, replacement parts are readily available online.

Re: A/C fan stops working for short time
After another stop yesterday the fan has not yet started. It is time to look at connector. Is it accessible after removing the glove box and carpet without the plastic behind glove box?

Yes, if you remove the carpet thing, you can see the connector - although it's awkward to reach unless you are flexible

Re: A/C fan stops working for short time
Is there separate fuse for a/c fan or no need to check it? If I see correctly, it is fuse F (15A) but description says it is used for Display, Audio, etc. (they are working).
Re: A/C fan stops working for short time
Finally, the problem was in the connectors of Actuator 6441.L2 mentioned above. A better Valeo code is 710355 (instead of 509355) because it includes new connectors for replacement.
