Replacement remote key
As the title state's
I have misplaced my remote key
It's been missing for three weeks now & it's doing my head in
I've looked everywhere but to no avail.
So the question is, can I get a replacement.
Of course as soon as I source a replacement the old one will turn up
Thanks all DDD.

Re: Replacement remote key
There's 3 significant bits of the key:
Blade - obviously only fits your locks, AFAIK a new one can be made if you have a pattern.
Circuit board - works the remote c/l - your car can be programmed via PP2k to recognise up to 5 different pcb's IF you've got the PIN code, BUT it 'forgets' any you don't operate at the time of reprogramming.
RFID, (immobilser), chip - a little black lump, (from memory) about 6-8mm square x 2 m thick - this is synched with the BSI and can't easily be changed.
If you've got a non-remote key that works, it's got items 1 & 3 above.

Re: Replacement remote key
Cheers Eric,
I know all the different component's, when I first got the car I replaced the remote key case.
I am also aware of the chip being a bit of a problem.
I was just wandering if anyone had replaced one or even if it's possible.
Don't really want to start having to mess around with the bsi

Re: Replacement remote key
For future reference for other members.
If you've got pp2k or access to it, it's not so bad.
You can get a blank replacement off ebay for less than a tenner,
Then a used 406 key with circuit board & chip in off ebay, again less than a tenner.
You then need to get the blade cut & finally sinc chip to the b.s.i using pp2k.
There is a walk through on youtube
Failing that it's £170.00 @ the main steelers
You can guess which I chose

Re: Replacement remote key
Cheers for clearing this up Paul.
Some people say its not possible to use a 2nd hand key as a replacement remote key, others say its possible..
Is it a case of new ID46 chip, 2nd hand case with circuit board, use PP2000 to program the ID46 chip and sync the 2nd hand remote at the same time?

Re: Replacement remote key
Don't know yet Kelv ,
The walk through on youtube shows a used key being done & a seller on eBay has used keys for reprogramming.
In theory it should work as when you reprogram say three keys, all the keys are reprogramed to a new code
As I understand it anyway
But I haven't tried out the theory yet

Re: Replacement remote key
It's the other way rond - the BSI 'learns' up to 5 keys, if presented in the same session.

Re: Replacement remote key
Hi guy's,
Bit of a update.
So I bought a second hand remote key off ebay, had it cut & guess what I couldn't programme it
So I bought a virgin ID46 chip from a auto locksmiths & happy days it worked
You can programme it via pp2k.
Now here's the rub
I can't get the remote to sync with the car , according to the seller there's 3 different circuit boards fitted.
How the hell do I work out which one I need
The choices are
1. 73373067C
2. 73373067B
3. Valeo
Before some bright spark says check your old one, we have misplaced it
Please can someone shed some light
Many thanks in advance all, DDD.

My key's circuit board is 73373067C and the plastic key casing has Valeo stamped on it. Its from a '53 Full mux car...
I was looking at this process to help out a friend about 6 months ago but didn't proceed due to the uncertainty of success. Good to see, someone trying this out

Re: Replacement remote key
Seems like the remote is programmed in the factory to match the transponder.
See http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/sh ... 3373067B-C which says:
If you just program the transponder chip and then learn that key into the BSI using PP2000, the data in the remote will not match, so it will not work.
See http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/sh ... 3373067B-C which says:
So it seems like the only way to get it all working is to know what data is in the remote, and from that to deduce what should be programmed into the transponder chip.In Citroen and Peugeot the remote is precoded with the transponder. Changing transponder makes the remote stop working. In other words transponder and remote are matched in factory. When you program new transponder it must contain also data for remote. This is needed for BSI module to recognize rf transmissions from the remote.
If you just program the transponder chip and then learn that key into the BSI using PP2000, the data in the remote will not match, so it will not work.

Arh bugger ,
The only thing l'll say is, you stated ( program the transponder chip and then learn that key into the BSI)
But I have used a virgin ID46 chip / Transponder, this worked learning this to the BSI.
But the remote was supplied with the correct ID46 chip to the match the PCB in the remote,
But pp2k kept coming back with (check transponder programming) when trying to sync / learn the new remote
So I am none the wiser

Re: Replacement remote key
In fact only the transponder ID is "learnt" into the BSI. The BSI has no way of knowing the data in the remote (pressing the remote buttons is not part of the learning procedure). But the remote was supplied with the correct ID46 chip to the match the PCB in the remote,
But pp2k kept coming back with (check transponder programming) when trying to sync / learn the new remote
So apparently there is something wrong the transponder ID itself? Maybe it was issued for another car model?
