Cruise Retrofit on HDI (90) Siemens 801 Full Mux

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Stupid question from me but... did you fit a clutch switch?

There is a very good instruction manual here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=20756

And you might look here for some other pics: http://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/406 ... ode-42729/

The car already has a switch fitted at the clutch but was marked absent in BSI and clutch presses do not register on the BSI (both when marked present or absent). I have seen that this is a common issue in the various topics online. Thanks for the links, I have gone through the first link and another fitting guide which turned out to be for the cars without the com2000 unit.

The clutch switch looks exactly like the picture in the 2nd topic with wiring on the same harness going towards the air vents, and the same red connector was stuck inside tape of a wiring harness.

I got the brake switch but did not fit it as there is no menu item for that switch, and there is no fault code reported for the break switch, only about the clutch switch.

Maybe the clutch switch does not work (does not switch). You might want to unplug it and test it with a simple ohm meter.

The clutch switch (or any pedal switch) is normally closed (contact). It will open (no contact) when the pedal is pressed.

By the way:
after the drive, BSI shows - permanent fault, clutch switch.
Reading the rest of this topic, the clutch switch is not wired to the BSI but directly to the ECU: see viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22265#p228604 . So this "fault" may be misleading and not at all be the cause of your problem.

Just re-read that part of the topic and he had the brake contacts shorted out. Maybe the extra brake switch needs to be present even though there is no coherence testing option in pp2000. I guess I can try again with the brake switch fitted into the socket which should be the same as the contacts shorted.

So the missing part for the puzzle was indeed the second brake switch.

After the switch was fitted to the bracket and adjusted to be set as depressed, cruise control worked on the test drive!! :) :) :) :)

So in summary,
needed the brake switch, fitting clip and the stalk
three settings on pp2000 -> 1 in ECU 'speed regulation present', 2 in BSI 'clutch contact present' and 'with cruise control'

Now to either modify the lower steering cowl or find one with the cut out...

Well done! 8)

Seems you need to persevere to win with many of these mods, but well worth the effort in the end.

Good job! :D Thanks for the update.

So indeed the fault message about the clutch switch is misleading. Glad it all worked out.

Ya, it is well worth the effort to try it out and it get working.

Ya, the fault message about the clutch is misleading. It has now appeared again since clearing and doing the test drive but no fault from the ECU etc. Maybe the system will yet function without the clutch input set present on the BSI.. Could try it out sometime I guess..

I vaguely seem to remember the clutch switch showing up in 2 places when I was doing mine (Bosch 110) but only one of them did anything.

Pah, you had all the wiring there already, that's almost cheating :frown: (Nicely done sir!)

Good work.
My clutch switch is set to absent, and my cruise control works fine. If I set it to present then I get a clutch switch fault....
Mines a Bosch but I guess the principal is the same.

I need to thank you sir for doing the guide of the full mux car! Without it, I would not achieved this.

Thanks for this info. I will do a test maybe in the weekend with setting it to absent.

If clutch switch is absent the CC will not disengage when clutch is pressed. It will rev up trying to maintain speed.

Sorry to jump in on another thread but I thought it was be better than starting a new thread. I know this is the 406 owners club but I have a 307 2.0 HDI GLX with the Siemens SID 801 ECU. I've set speed regulation to active in both the ECU and BSI and I've fitted a cruise control stalk but pressing the buttons while driving in 4th or 5th gear doesn't do anything. The button presses do however show up under 'switching module below the steering wheel (COM 2000)' menu.

What do I need to do all together to get it working?

I think the 307 has a different throttle setup, and there is a unit under the passenger side dash that controls it all.
Sorry I can't be specific, but I don't have a 307 to reference....
Also, look through all the PP2000 menus for cruise control activation - I think there is another one tucked away in another menu somewhere - maybe...??
