Hi guys!
After having acquired my new (to me) 406, I thought I'd treat him to a wash, polish and wax, as well as a full engine detail. Looking a little better now
Benjamin

Found the engine cover too! Wondered where it had got to - turns out it was underneath a tarpaulin in the shed haha
I've heard too many horror stories about using a pressure washer on these engines - I know the french electronics can be delicate at the best of times! With that in mind, I chose a selection of brushes (mainly the ValetPRO brushes, as well as a toothbrush for the intricate ares), and used my favorite all-purpose cleaner, Autosmart G101 diluted at 1:10. To achieve these results, simply spray on the G101 and work it into a lather with a brush on a small area, wiping off with a microfibre cloth once the dirt has been lifted into the foamy lather. To clean the lot, it took me about 3 hours in total. Once the surfaces are sufficiently clean, I dressed the bay using 303 Aerospace Protectant, sprayed liberally all over the bay and left to soak in for a few hours. Come back, and buff the residue, and this is what I'm left with! I'd be happy to do a guide for the forum if anyone is interested?rwb wrote:Very nice

Thank you! It's a very satisfying job to do - I wish I'd taken a picture of it before hand, I don't think it'd even been cleaned in its whole life. There was mud, dust, and oil deposits everywhere, which made it horrible to work on. All it takes is time and patience, and once complete you get a great feeling of satisfaction.Doggy wrote:Proper job there, Benjamin

Re: Treated the 406 to a wash, and an engine detail
I'd be happy to write a guide, however I'd either have to do someone else's 406 (anyone in the East Sussex area?) or another engine. I am surprised you've never heard of G101, it's generally accepted to be the best APC that's available at the moment, and has been for quite some time. 303 Aerospace protectant is great as well, really recommend it. Head over to DetailingWorld if you'd like to learn more, that's where I learn this stuffdirtydirtydiesel wrote:That engine bay is looking sweet , I really ought to do mine .

Best colour for the 406 IMHO.
I miss my blue 406 Silver is so dull and boring.

Re: Treated the 406 to a wash, and an engine detail
No worries bud , I've serched for G101 & 303 protectant & found them both .
I think I'm a bit out of the loop with some of the stuff that's avalible , I'd allways used spray on foaming gunk followed by armorall
Anyway the stuff you've used look's good judging by your results, I think I can just about work out how best to use them .
Thanks for the heads up DDD .
