The thing i like about mac's os is that you don't need to install various drivers when reinstalling the OS, even a clean copy of OSX installs without any driver issues.

It's considered illegal, even if you buy a legal copy of MacOS X, because the software license entitles you to run one copy of MacOS X on Apple Macintosh hardware.

But yes, the software is still out there. Google "hackintosh" and see what you can find...

My experience of Ubuntu is that either it works perfectly or it's impossible to fix. Clearly you're in the latter case.

When I was using Ubuntu as my main machine, some releases would work, then updating would break stuff, then in the next update it would work again. Their development priorities seem to be to change stuff for the sake of it so that in their next 6-monthly release they have something new to show, rather than stability.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Cheers.

The problem seems To be Driver issues: Aspose it wouid be ok on a Pc that Windows has Failed on -just to Make it useable Tempoary
other than That .. icarnt see no use for it if it Carnt Handle driver changes,

When I installed mint on this machine the only driver I had to install was for my nvidia graphics card (something to do with licensing  ), it worked with the generic one ok but it was in the list when I opened the program for extra drivers (whatever it's called) so I installed it. I should add this is an antique p4 machine, no idea if this is the same for anything newer.

I've seen various versions running on older machines and without all the faff and bloat windows lugs around they were incredibly quick. Even the versions you can run from USB can be pretty snappy.
Unfortunately for me I run a lot of stuff that's windows only so it's not for me.
The major downside to open source is the lack of regulation and quality control, I guess if you find a distro that runs everything you need just stick with it and avoid the updates.
