No-one's got back to me on that one :( Providing it's not actually busted I *think* stretching the spring will do the trick but it seems a lot of work just to try it.

I bought myself a new COM2000 unit today and I'll be following this guide :)

Will let you know how I get on....

All done! And I think I got rid of a rattles for good (as mentioned in the other thread) - lots of rags stuffed to stop metal-to-metal contact.

sorry to ressurect an old post but i stumbled upon this via google, along with the com2000 removal thread. since i dont want to fork out for a new one, i was all set to go and pull it apart tomorrow and have a go at stretching the spring, but im glad i read this thread now! think i'll give the sponge technique a try.

i suffer from the indicate-right-flicks-left problem. My father owned the vehicle previously and says its ONLY been doing this since it had the com2000 unit replaced by an official peugeot dealer! (whilst it was still under warranty). however, he was happy to leave it at the time, to save further faffing about. im pretty sure he asked them to check it the next time too but im not sure what happened there, i guess nothing.

So did everyone give up on repairing their com2000 units then?

There was a thread on here where wiggy was gutting the COM2000 unit. Don't think much came out of it though :|

Oops, I think I even approved your post Hamlex, then promptly forgot all about it :oops: If you didn't find the thread where I took one to bits it's here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7635

As mentioned, I'm not really sure why they fail, it could be the spring going weak or it could be the ramp it pushes on - mine had a strangely rounded shape and I'm not sure if it was always like this or this was what it looks like worn. I stretched the spring on mine and it feels firmer but I'm reluctant to refit it to the car just to try it out. In all probability it'll work for a while, then the spring will collapse and it'll be back how it was. Perhaps it would be better to pack the spring out with something of equal diameter. It's a shame I'm not back in Blighty because (amongst many, many other things :( ) I'd enjoy getting a few of these to "post mortem".

Could be worth your while looking into it, possibly set up a nice little 'cottage industry' in remanufactured COMM2000's

Ah, but there's the customs / import / export problem. :roll:

With the price of these things, a return trip to Croatia's almost viable.

That be correct that be, depending on presence of rear wash/wipe and ESP. The ESP ones are the expensive ones...

No i have an auto light system with a mind of it's own,i enables and disables whenever it feels like it every now and again and then behaves itself for ages then does it again,i suspect the button on the end of the lighting stalk on the comms 2000.

Only one bit of info missing:- what happens to the radio after (battery disconnection)

do you mean does it loose its code, ?
